@dignityindying

We believe in choice at the end of life. Including the option of #AssistedDying for terminally ill, mentally competent adults. #YesToDignity

This is not the end. We won't stop fighting until every dying person has choice.

Eight terminally ill people delivered a stark message to MPs ahead of today’s Private Members’ Bill ballot: don’t abandon dying people now. It's time to bring back the assisted dying bill.

@mattengland3011 Three in the top five supported assisted dying. Among them, Andrew George (4th) has been the most vocal about wanting a second bill. The higher a name is drawn, the more chance their bill has. So Lauren Edwards will be very popular today!

The higher a name is drawn, the more chance their bill has. Should one of them bring it back, there is a solid cross-party base of MPs ready and prepared to support them every step of the way.

This morning's private members' bill ballot signals strong hope for the assisted dying bill. 6 of the top 10 drawn MPs previously voted for the bill at Third Reading.

Real voices, real people. Many of us living with terminal illnesses want this choice instead of the current cruel and dangerous status quo. The Bill wasn’t flawed beyond repair, it was deliberately obstructed by a tiny minority of opposing Peers who tabled over 700 of the 1,200 amendments, including banning holidays and demanding pregnancy tests for men and infertile women. These were not people looking to improve the Bill. They oppose assisted dying under any circumstances and prevented the Lords from even being given the chance to vote on it. That is not democracy. It’s obstruction

Dying people want choice. Together we can finish what we started - it's time to back the assisted dying bill again.

Today is the private members' bill ballot. Your MP needs to see this message: You voted for choice. For compassion. You listened to dying people and made a promise. An unelected few tried to break your promise. Don’t let them. It’s time to back the bill again. Share and tag your MP.👇

"The landmark legislation was backed by the Commons in two votes but ran out of time in the House of Lords. Dozens of supporters are entering the draw in the hope of bringing it back." MPs must fulfil their democratic commitment to dying people, and bring back the assisted dying bill.
