I will accept Nigel Farage’s request to be appointed Steward and Bailiff of the Manor of Northstead. It is a farce and a desperate distraction, and the people of Clacton deserve better. But if he wants to spend the summer arguing with a bin, I won't stop him.

This is a desperate stunt from Nigel Farage. Politics should be about improving the lives of millions of people, not about personal gain.

I want all businesses to thrive. But too often they face a regulatory system that makes this much harder. Our Regulating for Growth Bill is giving companies a faster route to succeed - meaning more business, and more jobs across the UK.
Department for Business and Trade@biztradegovuk

UK businesses will be able to test and bring new products to market more quickly thanks to regulation reforms. The measures will help ensure regulation can keep pace with the development of new technologies, helping to attract investment and support skilled jobs.

Nigel Farage has a choice. If he could just prove once and for all he's done nothing wrong, he wouldn't have this media attention. Perhaps though - just perhaps, he can't do that.

A British AI company becoming the largest user of London’s new private markets platform is great news and illustrates the strength of our UK tech sector.
Alex Kendall@alexgkendall

Great to see the @FT cover our $85m Employee Tender on the front page. Wayve is the first major company to use PISCES, London's new private market, which felt right for us as a British company competing at the frontier of AI. I’m proud that the special team who built @wayve_ai, including many of us in London, will have the chance to share in our now global success story!

Hollie is one of the most formidable campaigners the Labour Party has ever produced. She joined as a trainee organiser because she wanted to fight for her community in Dagenham, and rose to the very top of our party through hard work, talent and belief in what Labour can do for working people. She built and led the ground campaign that delivered our general election victory and allowed us to start changing Britain, and as General Secretary she has served our party with distinction. I want to thank her for everything she has done for our party, our country, and for me as leader. I am proud to have worked alongside her, and wish her the very best for what comes next.

China is the second biggest economy in the world. We need to get even more British businesses making the most of the opportunities the country presents. Business and Trade Secretary @peterkyle has been speaking to businesses about how to sell more to China, and how the government can help.

I’m sometimes asked how I deliver speeches when I have dyslexia… this is how. Yesterday’s speech focused on how this government is helping to push the auto industry forward, to create jobs and drive growth.

More cars should be designed and built in Britain.   That’s why I’m laser focused on continuing to strengthen the sector despite global challenges.    I know a strong auto industry means more growth, more jobs and more stability for the UK.

Thanks to The Rt Hon @peterkyle MP, Secretary of State for Business and Trade and President of the Board of Trade, for joining us at #SMMTSummit and setting out the government’s ambition to back sectors that can “win big” in the decade ahead. His focus on a pragmatic, balanced approach to the EV transition – supporting British industrial capability, regional growth and global competitiveness – is one the automotive sector needs. A ZEV Mandate that is workable, affordable and aligned with market realities will be key, alongside continued commitment to a world‑leading EV manufacturing ecosystem here in the UK. SMMT will continue to work closely with government and all stakeholders to help deliver the right conditions for investment, growth and a successful transition.
