One part of the Tenth Doctor era that I adore is just how exciting a scene can be made when David Tennant does his angry, excited or terrified performance.
“Davros you can’t no” scene springs to mind. Also “thing is future me had all these years to think about it”.

Village of the Angels is completely undermined by the fact that none of it is wrapped up in a satisfactory way. Blink is a masterclass in pacing and resolutions, Village is the beginnings of an idea that needed a lot more work

@whoronomy It’s biggest flaw is 15’s only arc is the same as 10’s. Really wish I liked it, but Gatwa is the highlight and made it worth watching.

I've been rewatching parts of Ncuti's era here and there and even with a year now passed since his second series, I still am a firm believer RTD2 is a better era than the Chibnall era, and I'd argue it is as good if not better at times than Capaldi's run. I just think it's great.

@TrilbeeReviews It’s trying to come up with an explanation for why the Doctor didn’t fit in and broke away from their society and life of privilege. It reduces it to their origin rather than their mind.

Genuine question from someone who has watched 'Doctor Who' for over 20 years;
I never got the criticism of "The Timeless Child" revelation that it ruins the show because the "point/message" of DW was that "you can be the Doctor".
When has that ever been the message of DW?

@Rewriteonrepeat So any of the few good episodes are completely ruined for me by the framework. I have no interest in seeing 13, 14 or 15 mope about being the last of their kind or not having a planet. It was done far better decades ago and was tired by 2013.

@Rewriteonrepeat For me personally I don’t like the era because it is locked in the framework of “last of the time lords 2”. (That also applies to everything since Spyfall).
Repeating an old arc and regressing the Doctor completely ruins the show’s framework and makes the show feel backward.

I know the s2 finale left people pretty drained but I’m so tired of people acting like the 15th Doctor had bad episodes overall.
There’s so much to love, the reality war just left a bad taste in peoples mouths.

@rg252 @RobotHimejoshi @RebecTV Even if that’s his interpretation. The episode betrays his intent because the Doctor says categorically he saw the other outcome.
Also Moffat’s main reason for bringing them back, at least to me, seems so the show could move on from the last of the time lords arc.

@DimensionsInJen @RobotHimejoshi @RebecTV Except Moffat said part of his reason for writing the episode is that he couldn't see the Doctor killing the Time Lords and the Daleks. We know he loves a bootstrap paradox & if he was writing the episode from the belief the Doctor never did it, then he didn't change his history.

Ok I think I've put my finger on one of my biggest pet peeves. When writers feel the need to drastically change canon for no good reason.
2005 Who had the Time War and Time Lords gone but that was a fresh start, a new page.

@ClaraEchoes True. Also not just that but the 50th leaves it ambiguous suggesting the Doctor did once do it and has changed it. So RTD1 can be watched as “he did it” timeline and “he didn’t do it” timeline.

@RobotHimejoshi @RebecTV I'm not sure i agree with DotD- it very much undercut the character arc of the Doctor post Time War which was built around something he now didn't do.
It makes the 9th & 10th Doctors arcs weaker.

@anniightingale @DimensionsInJen It was literally a deus ex time lord, and tbh a poor one given that gallifrey previous to it regards the doctor as a threat, and after it, ALSO regards the doctor as a threat.
Literally just written in to explain why 12 can exist, since war stole the the 9th regen.

retconing the doctor using the moment to destroy gallifrey to end the time war did way more damage to the doctor's character and lore than the timeless child arc ever could have done (because it didn't at all) no amount of crying will change it

@MonstrousA46415 I don’t think that’s true or fair. I do think the show has massively dipped in quality the last six years.
I still enjoy 1963-2018 on rewatches. Not grown out of it at all.

I think the reason those who haven’t cared for RTD2 are feeling more fatigue with the show than ever is because it’s been two eras in a row where a lot of the fanbase just doesn’t like the era. It is tiring for people to not enjoy their favourite tv show for so long.
