Pendant huit ans, elle a occupé des fonctions de premier plan : procureure générale, ministre des Transports, puis présidente du Conseil du Trésor depuis 2023. Elle a aussi été, sans interruption, ministre des Affaires francophones. Dans le langage politique, on parle d’une « ministre senior » : une figure stable, expérimentée, qui rassure les milieux d’affaires et les électeurs modérés.

@trudel_denis Mon commentaire s’applique à tous les politiciens. Trop souvent ces communautés sont prises our acquis par les libéraux, ignorées par les souverainistes et par les conservateurs. Les nouvelles générations ne votent plus de façon homogène.

Voyons Dimitri, tu es plus intelligent et plus conscienceux que ça pour te contenter de répéter les fausses perceptions du commentariat fédéraliste ! Moi simple député, j'organisais des cérémonies d'acceuil de citoyenneté québécoise où je recevais jusqu'à 500 personnes de toutes origines de ma circonscription où je leur parlais de préservation de la langue et de la culture et comment ils avaient un rôle fondamental à jouer pour la suite des choses pour le Québec. Et la plupart des députés du Bloc faisaient la même chose. Et le font encore. Faut simplement savoir où regarder !😉

Il y a une raison pour laquelle j’ai passé autant de temps avec lui. À jaser dans l’antichambre de la Chambre des communes. À partager parfois un lunch. À l’écouter. À débattre avec lui. Ses opinions ne faisaient pas l’unanimité. Elles ne le prétendaient pas non plus. Mais André savait où il se tenait. Et de toutes mes interactions avec lui. Je peux vous dire ceci. C’était un bon homme. Avec un bon coeur. Avez-vous déjà réfléchi à pourquoi nous n’avons jamais présenté de candidat conservateur contre lui. Nous étions heureux qu’il soit élu.

Tonight I had the honour of speaking to more than one hundred young Canadians from cross the GTA at this year’s Model United Nations at Maple High School. I told them something I believe with all my heart. What they did this year was not pretend. It was practice. They learned to sit across from someone they disagree with and still find a deal. They learned to listen before they speak. They learned that being loud is not the same as being right. Those are the skills that run countries. The challenges ahead are real. Some are sudden, like a crisis that reaches your kitchen table within a week. These students are ready for both. And I left them with one last thought. People can take many things from you. Your money, your job, the things you can hold in your hand. But nobody can ever take what you know. Education is not about grades. It is about knowledge. And knowledge is power. @MimiProbably @DimitrisSoudas I usually appreciate @DimitrisSoudas' commentary. I used to vote PC, and consider myself a centrist that now votes fed Lib and ABNDP, as CPC & UCP too populist. I try to listen to those with experience across the spectrum. I just don't agree with his post I quote-tweeted at top

@DimitrisSoudas Mr. Soudas, there is no reason to attack. All I said was that the BQ was born from the Mulroney era, after the Meech failure. Bouchard was a Conservative and Lapierre a Liberal. No need to get testy.

I’ve said this before, and I’m going to say it again, because nothing has changed. I said it about the sovereignists in Quebec. Now I’m saying it about the ones in Alberta. The federal Liberals have created more separatists than the people actually leading the separatist cause. Let that sink in. The folks running the campaign for separation could not recruit as well as Ottawa has recruited for them. They’ve handed them the best argument they’ve got. And this isn’t a fluke. It’s a pattern. When you spend ten years treating a province like a problem instead of a partner, this is what you get. Policy after policy that lands like a punch. An economy told it’s the villain of the story. You do that long enough and people stop getting angry and start getting serious. They stop complaining and start asking a different question. Would we be better off on our own? Once ordinary people are asking that out loud at the kitchen table, something has already broken. I watched this exact movie play out in Quebec. Years of Ottawa talking down to people, and the separatist numbers climbed. Now look at Alberta. An idea that used to sit on the fringe is suddenly something a real share of Albertans say they’d consider. That didn’t come from the premier. That came from a decade of being ignored. So here’s my honest suggestion to the federal Liberals. Sit this one out. Your party did enough damage over the last ten years. This is why we are where we are today. If you can’t say something positive, if all you’ve got is another shot at the premier of Alberta, then please, just stay out of it. You’ve helped enough already. 🇨🇦
