@DiodatiMike23@SpikeEskin Nolan Ryan once went 13 innings & threw 235 pitches.
235, not 135!!
Opposing starter Luis Tiant threw into the 15th.
Nolan back 3 days later & threw 6 inn shutout!!
Steve Carlton once threw 31 complete games in 1 season, winning 27.
All 3 guys pitched hi level for 20+ years.
1997: this guy throws 100. He's unhittable. He's the best pitcher I've ever seen.
2026: we just brought this guy up from AAA. He kinda sucks. He throws 103 but it doesn't have much spin and he only has 5 other pitches. They'll send him back down after this game
@Breleezy@JackFritzWIP Because the idiots in the front office projected him to be a #1, in line to win multiple Cy Young awards and a shoe in to strike out 3,000 in his career. Nobody is anything until they prove it at the MLB level - consistently.
@JackFritzWIP Never trusting a prospect again until they get a new and better scout team. I will stand on that. No one is safe if it means getting a quality player
I think there's a little too much fear-mongering about the Phillies farm system.
If they wanted, Gage Wood could highlight any package for one of the big players at the deadline (I don't think he's on the table unless Buxton is available).
Renteria and Aidan are untouchable for me. Marquez is close too.
Nori, Aroon, Obermueller, Fisher, Burkholder, Pan, Bowker, McFarlane, Ferrebus, Parra, Rincon and Heredia all would have value in trades.
@JackFritzWIP Jack, thank you!! The talking heads (not you) talk about it like it’s an awful system. I guarantee if the Twins make him available and Buxton waives his no trade, we can get him 100% if we package a trade around Gage Wood. The same goes true for Miller and a few others.
@lenndoggydogg@JackFritzWIP He always was until he proved it and he can't prove it and most likely now never will. He should have taken the college scholarship and learned how to pitch.
@JackFritzWIP@kQnz20 I’ve jumped ship on the term “untouchable” when talking prospects. Bring back the proven MLB player everytime, too many variables with propects.
@dalvin4mvp@JackFritzWIP That's the key point. It's laughable compared to what other the teams have. The only thing that will get Skubal here in a trade is Middleton giving the whole franchise to the Detroit owner, and then he wouldn't own the Phillies anymore.
@JCigs2@JackFritzWIP Hahahahahaha. Not laughing at the high schooler, laughing at the situation because it's laughable. Stop drafting high school players in the first 10 rounds. That's going to start changing.
@JackFritzWIP Jack, seriously, what would that conglomeration of slop get you? The only one that is worth real value is Gage Wood. Aiden Miller is an injured high schooler until he proves differently. Can't we learn from the Painter hype?
@IrritatedOwl@SpikeEskin Three of the five pitches are variations on a curve ball. Overhand with a downward break or dropping down with a more sideways break. It's still a curveball. There are only three pitches - fastball, breaking ball, change of pace. Analytics has ruined the game.
@SpikeEskin I'll disagree with the 5 other pitches comment. Today's baseball is all about the velo and they dont have as many pitches (thrown consistently well for strikes) as past years. Greg Maddux would still dominate this era.
@SeanXLove2024@SpikeEskin Exactly. Bob Feller's arm was fine. They are all idiots today, analytics has ruined the game, and Major League Baseball, and baseball in general, has lost it's way.
@SpikeEskin Can someone explain to me like I'm 12 years old....
Why this generation believes it's managerial malpractice to have starting pitchers go 100? Like if he hit 125, his arm would fall off?
If Phillies kept starters in the playoff games last 4 years, they might have 4 rings.
@pierce_1978@JackFritzWIP I agree but it's the injured list - IL - and it still should be DL with all due respect to disabled people. IR is I bynjured Reserve, a football term.
