— Trigger warning: mention of self harm, suicide, abuse, rape — I have to tell you... it DOES get better. Please, listen to this 31 year old Bat. I went through life-long abuse. Struggling with suicidal ideations and tendencies. My first suicidal thought was when I was just 6 years old... started self harming at 10, and it got worse when I turned 13. I have been beaten and mistreated by the people that should of protected me. I've been beaten, abused, drugged and raped for the majority of my life... all I have ever known is survival mode. However.. PLEASE believe me when I say this – IT GETS BETTER!!! For decades I never thought I would be able to break this cycle of abuse. For decades I convinced myself I don't deserve joy. I don't deserve love. That I didn't deserve the safe space I so desperately tried seeking out. That I would never have my happy ending, with a loving partner, and a beautiful family. I convinced myself that the only thing I would know is abuse. I can't tell you how many times I attempted to take my life. How many tears I cried. How many times I sliced into my skin. Even writing out "I'm sorry" on my thighs for simply fucking existing. How many screams that went unheard or ignored. How many broken bones, or black eyes I endured simply for crying out for help. But... I never gave up. As hard as it was, and it felt impossible at times... I never gave up. I held on. Then, at 29 years old? After an entire lifetime of abuse? I broke it. I broke the cycle of abuse. I finally made it. The light at the end finally kissed my face... the safe space I begged for my entire life finally blessed my presence. So please... take my story and apply it to yours. Don't give up. It WILL get better. You are NOT alone. Keep on carrying on. We got this. Love, Coffins. ♡
