@StephenFlynnSNP BP should be made to set up a fully funded energy company registered in Scotland prior to its departure, this should form the basis of a future energy conglomerate in an independent Scotland.

Few in Aberdeen will be shocked by this, but there will be fury that more uncertainty is being piled on to our city and its world class workforce. The workforce, our collective energy security and our economy needs protected by those who hold the levers of power in London.

Yes, your house has "gone up" 40% in 10 years. So has every other house you'd need to buy instead. You haven't made a profit. You've just kept pace with a market you can't cash out of while you still need a bedroom. That's not investing. That's tracking inflation.

@tradertheory What you just witnessed was a rise in American interest rates, leading to a sell-off of dollars, which in turn caused the GBP to surge. The world's largest market is the foreign exchange (FX) market, not the treasury or commodities.

We should require people to fund their own social care via assets or insurance. And for those who do not have enough such assets or insurance themselves we should next require payments from their family if they are rich enough.
