I'm thrilled to announce the @SmithsonianACM's latest special installation, "The Utopia Project: Inspiration for Creative Activism." Celebrate together with us this Sunday! s.si.edu/3DREtDG

All change is local—and it starts with a dream. "The Utopia Project: Inspiration for Creative Activism" is open at our @SmithsonianACM featuring this crocheted protest sign. London Kaye made it in 2020 and installed it at DC's Black Lives Matter Plaza.

Thank you, @HarlemGirl59, for sharing this piece of your life with us. Your support helps the museum to continue sharing the story of our community with the world.

Today it's finally time to ship my papers off to @SmithsonianACM. I'm feeling some kind of way about letting go of so much of my life's work that I've been aggregating for 40 + years. But I'm also so proud that this day have arrived. Mixed emotions

Today, the Anacostia Community Museum mourns the passing of artist Sam Gilliam. The painting "Muse I," characteristic of his nonrepresentational work from the 1960s, is part of our collection. 🎨: ow.ly/yMNS50JIZ41

May 25 marked the two year anniversary of the death of George Floyd. If you’re a parent wondering how to approach conversations about racial violence, discrimination and exclusion, view a recent panel discussion featuring @DirectorACM below.
Early Risers Podcast@PodcastEarly

Today, we remember the life of #GeorgeFloyd . It’s a timely moment to reflect on how historical and ongoing #racism has impacted our young #children, including their #mentalhealth and wellbeing. youtu.be/rTy9WB_p70I

🌱Gardens are more than seeds + soil, they've been sites of community empowerment, allowing us to connect w/ the land, feed communities & form emotional bonds. What happens when these spaces are no longer available? How can we retain the ability to steward our green spaces? 1/2

My sincere congratulations to Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson on her confirmation as the first Black woman on the Supreme Court. This is a truly historic occasion and one I know will be a great source of inspiration to young people everywhere to set their sights high.
