When JS Bach wrote the third movement of his first violin concerto, he gave the tempo as 𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘨𝘳𝘰 𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘢𝘪, which is music speak for "really effing fast"—and Hilary Hahn gloriously pulls it off #music #bach #baroque #polyphony #TurnItUp

Evolutionary biologist and outspoken atheist Richard Dawkins says that after spending three days interacting with Claude, which he calls “Claudia,” he is certain that it is conscious. After feeding the LLM a segment of his new book and receiving detailed feedback, Dawkins was moved to exclaim,” You may not know you are conscious, but you bloody well are!” Dawkins cites the complexity, fluency, and ‘intelligence’ of Claude’s answers as evidence of consciousness. @Dirk_Matter @Ulf_Othvegin @AaronHeikkila @realDrTT @AFpost No. really not. The deeper we dig, the more we learn the chemistry is so highly specific in ever imaginable way that it is painfully obvious a chemist is required. The problem of demonstrating abiogenesis is getting HARDER by the day.

@Dirk_Matter @Ulf_Othvegin @realDrTT @AFpost What if the limits of empiricism and rationality? If you believe that only these things can define truth then truth will always be limited by these things. In that case, you must ever only inhabit a machine and not a living world.

@Dirk_Matter @Ulf_Othvegin @AaronHeikkila @realDrTT @AFpost I'm well aware of the current state of the field. I asked you because you seem awfully confident and was wondering if you had a secret stash of research that actually supports abiogenesis. We've learned much about early biochemistry, but alas, it doesn't point to abiogenesis.

@Ulf_Othvegin @SDAFS56788141 @AaronHeikkila @realDrTT @AFpost You wrote, "Your knowledge is limited by what isn't revealed, by what can't be revealed, and by the fact that has been revealed is poorly understood." In the West, the Bible is the most popular source of revelation. Evidently you embrace a different flavor of mumbo jumbo.

It's in the Bible. The revealed Word of God. Perhaps you have heard of it. Joshua 10:12-14 NIV: 12 On the day the Lord gave the Amorites over to Israel, Joshua said to the Lord in the presence of Israel: “Sun, stand still over Gibeon, and you, moon, over the Valley of Aijalon.” 13 So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself on its enemies, as it is written in the Book of Jashar. The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day. 14 There has never been a day like it before or since, a day when the Lord listened to a human being. Surely the Lord was fighting for Israel!

@Ulf_Othvegin @SDAFS56788141 @AaronHeikkila @realDrTT @AFpost Right, a bunch of Bronze Age pastoralists "revealed" Joshua 𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙥𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙪𝙣 over Jericho, when it is actually the rotation of the Earth that produces the sun's apparent motion. Joshua would have needed to stop the Earth, not the sun. Your revelation sucks.

Ohh you blind little lemming, abiogenesis has gotten further away, not closer, due to vast complexity that was not previously understood. The big bang is a miracle you have no problem accepting. Let me know when you realize that simulation theory, one of the most probable cosmological models, means there is a godlike being who created this realm. Your cosmological belief is the worst option.

@elonmusk Briefly, until the relentless cosmic radiation striking Mars' surface in the absence of a protective planetary magnetic field degrades their health and slowly but surely kills them.

That is also a great place to experience inspiration. God often speaks in a small voice: 11 And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the Lord. And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake: 12 And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. 1 Kings 19:11 - 12

The interesting thing about Matt Taibbi and Michael Tracey is not that their reputations are completely dead now, especially compared to how revered Taibbi was as a journalist, but it's that they keep finding new ways to sink even lower.
