Dinson Iron & Steel Company Zimbabwe (Disco)

On January 22, I had the pleasure of joining Hon. Minister Monica Mutsvangwa and a cross-party delegation of China-Zimbabwe Parliamentary Friendship Association, led by Hon. Webster Shamu, on a visit to the Dinson Iron & Steel Company. In just five years, this iconic China-Zimbabwe cooperation project has evolved from promise into tangible progress, transforming into a thriving steel hub—a powerful testament to our shared commitment and fruitful partnership. 🇨🇳🇿🇼 DISCO stands as a catalyst for Zimbabwe’s future by: ✅ Spearheading industrialization and value addition, meeting critical domestic and regional demand while removing a longstanding barrier to growth for key sectors like construction and manufacturing. ✅ Creating over 2,000 quality jobs within local communities, including 190 ZIE-registered engineers, while fostering meaningful skills transfer and empowering sustainable livelihoods. ✅ Actively fulfilling its social responsibilities through community-focused initiatives—building schools, drilling boreholes, and rehabilitating local roads. DISCO’s achievements are fully aligned with Zimbabwe’s NDS1 and NDS2, advancing national priorities such as inclusive economic transformation, job creation, increased tax revenue, and expanded trade—a commitment powerfully captured in the company’s own inspiring motto: “Excellence is a choice, not a chance. Steel by steel, we strengthen the nation.”
