This is so garbage bro, u purposely applied real world physics while ignoring literal statements within the manga to push your bullshit agenda AND you didn't even talk about how jjk scales any higher. U haven't even read the manga bro

It is GENUINELY absurd how Sukuna mauls Akemura and effectively all of Kagurabachi. (Doing this for @BY_NM123, who wanted me to go into this, was originally not going to but this post randomly appeared, and I didn’t wanna be a hindrance to the community but since the opportunity presented itself, why not) If we use the “lightning” speed feet, we can firstly just clarify that this isn’t actually lightning speed to begin with. Firstly, there’s no indication that the lightning emitted by Cloud Gouger is ACTUAL lightning, since while it carries conductive properties, we see later that when Chihiro deducts that he must “swing and wring” it (the kanji for wring being 絞— to squeeze out to the last drop). At maximum, Cloud Gouger manifests Black Lightning which operates entirely differently in the way it makes Chihiro even faster than cloaked Mei. But even if we were to say it’s real lightning, it doesn’t detract from the fact that cloaked Mei doesn’t actually do anything SUPER unique, rather it’s made to “纏う” Mei— WEAR. The specific kanji is 纏, meaning to wrap and wear. So all cloaked Mei does is carry you with lightning. So, to be scientific for a moment: real lightning travels around a third lightspeed for the return stroke, whilst the stepped leader is about 200km/s. The reason this speed is possible is because of electromagnetic discharge through an ionised plasma channel— it’s legit just charge propagation, nothing to do with matter transportation. The moment you add mass on, that entire function deteriorates. Now, this only leaves one answer, that answer being that it’s not ACTUAL lightning, rather an ability to call upon the properties of lightning, which is suggested through an earlier statement about it actually regarding a property of THUNDER (雷). It’s also stated later in the chapter about Lightning Rod mechanisms, so it’s clear that it does emulate Lightning to a degree. So, how do we ACTUALLY calculate the speed? Well, that’s easy, we don’t. To accelerate a human body to that speed, it’d require energy so absurd that it’d release a shockwave. It doesn’t, so we can say it’s below Mach 30. At Mach 5, air has significantly plasma heating, so it’s not near that either. Even if we presume superhuman function, a human blacks out at about ~5g. Going that speed for 0.1 second would be ~1,000g or so, which’d be Mach 3, but also conk you out. The indication of zero energy release, the fact that there’s a separate mode which is black which goes even faster (ik it being black is irrelevant to the speed amp, that’s not what I’m talking about, I’m talking ABOUT the speed amp showcased through Shred) to suggest the typical type isn’t even that speed, and the fact it works at all shows that the Cloud Gouger Lightning feats aren’t actually able to be seen as anything more than more than a cool marginal speed amp. While we can say the superhuman body can handle it, which would be a fine argument, it’s immediately debunked by the air around, which ISN’T at all sundered. At maximum, it’s far below Mach 3. The human body can handle about Mach 0.02 until its eye can’t track things moving 5m away, and given that it can be reacted to, it’s probably about 30mph. Still excellent, of course, actually very scientifically plausible, just not scalerslop high-level like it’s proposed. Also, about the statement where it’s said it “exceeded its limit” to justify the idea it’s faster than conventional lightning, “限界を超えた雷” reads as lightning whose magnitude exceeds the blade’s integrity. It’s the limit of the blade, not the power— it’s just more than it can usually sustain, FURTHER proving the original one isn’t actually proper lightning. There’s the whole butterfly stuff, but honestly, with the speed caps of the series, one punch from 1.6f Sukuna does it lol ANYWAY ASIDE FROM THAT HOLY SHIT THIS ART IS BOSS DUDE FUUUUCK MAN THAT LOOKS SO GOOD 😭 Phanto really inspired so many good pieces recently man

It is subjective in meaning. In colloquial Japanese, “one blink” is used to define something so incredibly fast that it cannot be perceived in the instance of a blink. However, it is not the SMALLEST unit of measurement in colloquial Japanese, nor is it the most popular. The most popular unit for a short interval is 刹那, which means “an instant”, as it defines the smallest interval of human reaction speed. It derives from the Sanskrit Buddhist “kṣaṇa”, being 1/75th of a second, but colloquially it doesn’t ACTUALLY hold that specific of a definition, but broadly means the TINIEST interval of human reaction speed. 一瞬, isshun, instead means “one blink”, which literally regards a time period which is “blink if you miss it”, BUT has an expectation of visual reaction without blinking. Both are punctual time points. It’s used to define a measurable, yet small moment— “I hesitated for just one blink.” It defines a VERY small, but still measurable point; in a hierarchy of timeframe between 1/10 from shortest to longest, it would be a 2 or 3. 刹那, setsuna, is far more potent because of the gravity it holds. It’s from Abhidharma cosmology, in which the doctrine of mujō is thoroughly explained. It’s effectively made to define impermanence, dictating the tiniest speck of time. However, due to how human perception was deemed the limit back then, THAT was what it was used for. It’s explicitly used to define the absolute minimum of human perception. The only time “one blink” is used to describe an instant is in the Bible, where “一瞬のうちに” is used to equate toward the Greek “ἐν ῥιπῇ ὀφθαλμοῦ”, which doesn’t mean the BLINK of an eye, but the SACCADE— the casting motion. It’s effectively a mistranslation based on misinterpreting the Greek ‘rhipē’, since “blink” or even “flash” would be incorrect in this context, since it’s the “throw of an eye”. To give a contemporary quote documenting its function, “For something to be felt as ‘isshun’ (一瞬だった), that moment has to be retainable as a memory by the brain’s function. That’s roughly 0.1 seconds. 0.1 seconds (100 milliseconds): the unit of sound humans can distinguish is 100 ms; the time needed to hold and become conscious of a neural firing pattern is 100 ms; one phoneme of the most common words in everyday English (it, to, a, the, you) is 100 ms. Roughly speaking, isshun is 0.1 seconds.” It’s not about perception time, but memory time— those are VERY different thresholds. The objective threshold to which stimulus is perceived is 10-15ms— again, setsuna, so baseline human perception at its minimum, even to the point of non-visualisation. You wouldn’t memorise anything going at this speed, because neural processing won’t measure the stimulus at all. They’re unconsciously processed, but not as memory. 50ms upward is where you have the subjective threshold, where you still don’t process it, but you’re aware you perceived it. It’s the idea of a glint in your eye. Still no memory. It’s 100-200ms where it then enters your iconic memory, and is consciously perceived, and from then-on it becomes working memory at about 250ms upward. It’s not the time to simply PERCEIVE, but to recognise. Hokazono states that it is scantly (minutely) UNDER that. This means that Butterfly is JUST under the baseline perception of human capacity to recognise, but perceive is another matter. This’d place it at about 70-100ms. Still visualised, just not conceptualised cognitively. So either it’s just LITERALLY below one blink, in which it’s just under 100-500ms, or it’s COLLOQUIALLY below one blink, in which it’s just under 100-500ms. No practical differentiation, just different methods to come to the conclusion based on what you perceive the use of “one blink” as outside of the time it was used Biblically (in which there’s LITERALLY no better word, since setsuna is Buddhist and that being in a biblical text is atrocious).

@howudothisxshit @Kremason7 It does when Akemura has passive healing because he’s draining life out of anyone in his vicinity. And Samura had to use the full power of Suzaku ONLY to himself just to barely counter a one-man focused life drain by Akemura

@TSDNM_ Oh don’t even use that crap since “一瞬— “ is subjective in meaning and can be meant in english as “instant”, “one blink” or so on. While etymologically you’re right. You’re wrong in assuming that their speed is locked/limited to “一瞬— “ when that simply isn’t the case LOL

@DisgracedOne10 It's not just about chihiro's eyes iirc, it was just talking about general human perception x.com/TSDNM_/status/…
THE SƎMEN DEMON | #TENOÍ@TSDNM_

@KingL3o9O1 the specific word isn’t “instantaneous”, it’s 一瞬— one blink. Etymologically, this is used for a period which is about 100-500 milliseconds, meaning it’s not instantaneous, it’s just so fast that a single blink cannot captivate it. It’s beyond standard human reaction speed.

@TSDNM_ @mi4040II @EmbBat_417 Butterfly isn’t limited to human perception LMAO. Butterfly literally slices space and has statements of it being infinitely instant that the word “instantaneous” is lowballing it. Chihiro reacted to it because he has special eyes and his perception is turbocharged with Nishiki
