The role of robotic surgery in modern hernia repair – from inpatient to outpatient settings. At this year’s Swiss Hernia Days, two surgeons shared what robotic surgery means in their daily practice. Dr. Natalie Kuchen (Specialized Surgery Zurich, @hirslanden Zürich) presented the hospital’s growing robotic experience in ventral hernia repair, as well as in other indications such as colorectal surgery, fundoplication, and gastric bypass. Dr. Michaela Ehrler (VISCERA Clinic) highlighted the advantages of ambulatory robotics – fast setup, ergonomic benefits, and solo surgery possibilities that enable robotic procedures in outpatient settings.
