@AphantasticR Honestly I think the reading of "they're a BDSM couple without Rance realizing it because he just wants to bang" is extremely funny. Doubly so with Aoi's interactions with him in X showing that Rance is just terrible at understanding fetish stuff.

@DistantValhalla "he's making her meaningfully unhappy." Be careful Steiner, you're wandering dangerously close into "Sill is lowkey into the beatings" theory.

Pondering why Rance acting like he's superior to Sill makes me laugh while when Bird does it it makes me despise him. Even without any further context that 02 there's just something about the way Bird treats Sill that rubs me the wrong way.

@AphantasticR A lot of Rance's charm is that in many ways his relationship with Sill is ostensibly master-slave but as time goes on you see she actually has a lot of soft power over him. With Bird, he has a very entitled personality in an underhanded kind of way, so it feels worse.

@AphantasticR Bird ends up coming off as sleazier than Rance because he makes assumptions about Sill without actually asking her, and then plans based around those assumptions. Rance drags around Sill forcefully, but you never get the impression he's making her meaningfully unhappy.

I have a day of "downtime" now (2 meetings, catching up on emails) and then I'm flying straight to Japan tomorrow. Ready for leg two, I'll be back home at my house in three weeks.

While I was helping out with Penny's gifts at her M&G, I happened to spy @Itscakejumper in the opposite booth. Had a nice little chat with her!

Overall, OshiUplink had a very solid year one. Very competent staff, solid attendee turnout. I'm glad I came to scope it out, and I look forward to year two if it happens. Densetsu.EXE concert was wall to wall packed, which I was very happy about! Thanks to all who showed up!
