I think you switched to pixels because pixel art scales better for large collections, is instantly recognizable at PFP size, has stronger community appeal, and fits the collectible culture of NFTs better than detailed illustrations.

Fun fact; I started Gloombles in 2024, didn't have a name at the time. I Started the X this past February, but was still finalizing the idea. The art started as illustration before I switched to pixels. I guess you can say I was ahead of the meta.
