Now I’m not really a fan of the @Senators but I hear a player they have in free agency has been suspended for 41 games for gambeling. Not on his games just gambeling in general while the @NHL has @BetMGM and the @Senators have @Bet99ON as sponsors. It is extremely unethical to have betting agencies as sponsors then have a stipulation in player contracts that they can’t gamble in any way shape or form. Obviously restrict them from betting on their own team or even the entire sport but anything past the sport is unethical. You can’t promote something and get paid for it then tell your employees they can’t do the thing the company(team/league) is promoting, that is not ethical. I hope this player tries EVERY means to fight this. With no contract he will very likely go without one or at very least lose a substantial amount of money for an ethical violation by the @NHL. Just because a business you work for writes something in your work contract doesn’t make it legally binding. Time to fight this and set precedent to hold these sports franchises to an ethical standard they clearly don’t currently have. I suggest the players aka NHLPA stand up for their rights, take a pay hit and walk out till the league makes the fair and ethically appropriate changes that are needed.
