Not trying to make anyone feel silly but the debate about Hayt vs. Edric from the DUNE teaser is ridiculous😭 Hayt is never displayed in a box or tank like that. He walks around like a person. Meanwhile, the sarcophagus is accompanied by Scytale, glows orange, plugs into a ship…

Here is my spoiler free breakdown of the Dune 3 trailer. But more importantly, I think I made a breakthrough in understanding the moral conflict that will be at the center of this movie. I hate to sound boastful, but I genuinely believe I am on to something big.

Os argumentos que vejo flutuando por aí sobre "Star Wars copiou Dune" parecem se limitar a "ambos tem um imperador e um planeta-deserto"
Pq nem tematicamente nem narrativamente eles são tão parecidos assim. Os temas de Dune tem mais a ver c manipulação de povos oprimidos através de religião e politicagem imperial.
Star Wars é mais "conto de fadas + segunda guerra mas no espaço"
A politicagem do imperador em Dune é mais interessante (e o livro explora bem melhor).
O Palpatine é só evil por ser evil e pronto
(Adoro todos os filmes e a história em si, mas não gosto mto da prosa do Herbert. Farei outra chance)

The way people pretend that Dune is the sole reason stories like Star Wars exist is just flat out wrong. Star Wars was primarily inspired by Flash Gordon, Kurosawa’s samurai movies, and mythical tales about the hero’s journey. It probably would’ve existed with or without Dune.

@trygraptor There is this painting by Vasily Vereshchagin of these Turkmenistan guards that I absolutely adore and for 10 years I've been thinking that that's more or less how I wish Paul's guards should look if there's ever a Messiah adaptation. I'm happy with this design

This is one of the most persistent myths about Dune Messiah.
Frank Herbert had the the first 3 books planned out, with the overall arc of Paul Atreides set from the beginning. He did not "write Messiah because readers didn't understand Dune".

@Peixe245II Talvez se o parâmetro for carisma. Os personagens de Duna são mais como arquétipos mitológicos, são mais complexos e a maioria bem trágicos. Você gosta deles mais pelo impacto que ele tem na trama e quais temas que aquele personagem possibilitam explorar

Duna é melhor que Star Wars em todos os sentidos, exceto nos personagens.
Eu amo Duna do fundo do coração, é meu livro favorito e tudo mais.
Porém ninguém me convence que o Paul Atreides é um personagem melhor que o Anakin Skywalker. Aí vocês vão ter que me desculpar.
