My opinion: Kyle tried to acquire impact players (Guentzel specifically), but failed to do so. Instead he pivoted adding three good middle-six players (Bert, Teuvo & Mikheyev) and some vets to help the kids along (Maroon, Martinez, Smith, Brodie & Brossoit). 1/?

End of this #Blackhawks season has been a huge disappointment. I still see the future, but it shouldn’t feel worse in April 2026 than it did in April 2025.

This final homestand could've been an opportunity for this young Blackhawks group to end the season with some good play & good vibes headed into the offseason. It has been the opposite. It has been an utter embarrassment for this group. This better be a wake up call.

There is a non-zero chance that tonight is the ABSOLUTE rock bottom of the #Blackhawks rebuild. Certainly feels like it should be at this point right?
Unequivocally, pretty much everyone in the press box tonight even knew that everything they watched was unacceptable.
People were told two years ago that it was time to take the next step in this rebuild.
I just worry that it could potentially still get worse before it gets better.

The issue isn't too many Dmen. The problem is too many Dmen that struggle to play at the NHL level forced into that position. The Hawks have the 2nd worse team in the league, they have holes everywhere and shouldn't draft purely for "need" with a top 4 pick. Take the best prospect and everything else sorts itself out if the people making those decisions knows what they are doing.

For me it’s Stenberg, McKenna or you trade the pick. I don’t really understand how you can draft another high end D prospect and expect to develop him correctly in this situation. There’s really only 1 spot on the left side up for grabs.
