@kenneth_hawkins Take out his Cheltenham form and he’s 18 wins, two seconds. Yet still doesn’t get the credit he deserves.

Jonbon, last week after the Ryanair Chase. 29 races, 21 wins, 8 second places. What a wonderful horse.

@mrbrianrowe It's crazy to realize that a "Martin Scorsese" film hasn't won an Oscar in almost 15 years... and it was Hugo

@FreddyInSpace One more random stat: only three of those are *actually* horror films.

Random stats on the only 8 horror performances to win Oscars: - 5 women, 3 men - 5 villain performances, 3 hero - 5 of 8 winners were previous Oscar nominees - Silence of Lambs = only horror film to win 2 acting Oscars - 2026 = 1st year 2 different horror films got acting wins

@SussexPhilip Irish National is now used for next year’s Grand National, while the Scottish National is now used for those that don’t get in at Aintree. All cater for different horses now, rightly or wrongly. At least you still get to see genuine stayers in action at Ayr.

@racehorsesrace1 He doesn’t state anywhere that there are still tracks operational in Scotland - merely highlighting how ludicrous the wording of the law is.

cuttingcomment.com/ban-the-greyho… #greyhound @Plaid_Cymru @theSNP So the greyhound goes under the bus, the cockapoo gets a biscuit, and the Welsh political class gets to parade around in the reflective vest of righteousness. Scotland, meanwhile, appears determined to join the same parade, clutching its own whistle and clipboard.

@MattBisogno This is more akin to the 1970s. Trump had no idea what he was doing by forcing the inevitable blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. Hyper inflation, fuel rationing and power cuts get more likely the longer this goes on.

BBC News opening with the phrase "global economic crisis" in relation to oil prices, which remain entirely in line with the last twenty years. They showed a 21 day chart, ffs. Why are we getting fear and misery mainlined into us by the national broadcaster?

@chrisgambler247 Particularly when the number horses in training lost over the same time period (since 2017) would exceed the 4,000 figure quoted for greyhound racing.

With greyhound racing banned in Wales yesterday & Scotland vote tonight British horse racing needs to wake up, end its isolationist approach, & work with the GBGB on a joint strategy against the activists. Otherwise its Greyhound racing > Jumps > Flat.

The challenge now is for the various stakeholder groups to set aside self interest and form a consensus for future direction. While there will always be inherent conflicts, factional in-fighting solves nothing. There must be an aligned strategy for the greater good of the sport.

@DizzyJB @JohnWathenBerry I retired a 3YO filly in January. Last year she came 2nd, 1st and 3rd within 30 days. The prize money for all 3 runs was £1K short of being able to pay that month’s training bill. I could have kept her in training. I’m sure she’d have won more races. But what’s the point?

@adrian_c_king @JohnWathenBerry Not just prize money either. Part of the joy of ownership was betting on your horse. Often plugged the gap for training fees. Now you wouldn’t be able to get bets down due to affordability checks, restrictions etc. I know several owners that have left the game because of this.

@JohnWathenBerry @DizzyJB There are plenty of people who are financially able to put horses in training… but if winning a race doesn’t even cover a month’s training fees, there is absolutely no incentive for them to do so. Everything comes back to prize money - it always does.

I’ve seen so much confusion why Jessie Buckley reacted like this. “She swept!” they say. “Of COURSE she would win!” The truth is nobody knows. Anything can happen. At the end of a crazy long awards season, this was the big moment and her reaction was HUMAN
