All 9 candidates selected under the EWS category for Assistant Director (Planning) are from Jammu. Not even a single name from Kashmir. Are we really saying that Kashmir, a region struggling with unemployment, economic distress and shattered livelihoods doesn’t have a single poor family deserving of the EWS category? If that is true, then Kashmir should be declared a model for the entire world, a place where not a single person lives in poverty. But if it is not and we all know it is not, then what we are witnessing is the murder of merit, fairness and equality. This ain't just a list of names it’s a reflection of a system designed to exclude, a system where even poverty seems to have a region and religion. How do you sleep peacefully after seeing this injustice? How do our so called leaders stay silent, perhaps because their sons and daughters ain’t the ones struggling for opportunities?
