The AFL really need to reconsider opening the roof at Marvel Stadium for games early in the season. Going to be roughly 35 degrees by opening bounce tonight and we'll be sitting in a sauna. What are they so afraid of when there's clearly going to be no rain about?

The roof looks to be open at Marvel Stadium today for the #BBL15 game. First sporting event I can remember in years that the roof has been open. Maybe a sign of things to come this #AFL Season?

@zanofc @abcsport What a load of rubbish. Even if 100,000 all paid $50 each for the next three days (they obviously didn't), thats only 15 million. They werent getting those crowds for the next three days and MCC members arent paying that for entry either.

@racrob95 @bella_anderson4 Exactly. And the absolute die hards who are desperate for that crucial information and little extra edge, I know of a yard subscription service they can sign up to... If you're arguing theres no pathway to be the next Lizzie Jelfs, then we may be in agreement.

@bella_anderson4 @Dlunnn The common person is going to rather follow Damien Oliver over some random, expert yard judge though. It's the same reason Ladbrokes pay Glen Boss to tip horses, it's not because he's any good, he just well known.

It’s really concerning when those running the broadcast product of racing don’t understand the basics. Having an ex/current jockey as a Mounting Yard analyst is comparable to a form analyst being a jockey for a day. Just because you know how to ride a horse, doesn’t mean you know how to critically assess one from a betting/punters perspective. Mounting yard analysts have extensive profiles on every single horse they have assessed spanning years, this is the info that helps punters and is what should be on broadcasts. This isn’t about a particular jockey, it’s a broader issue about getting the right professionals to do their literal job in order to make the best product. Michael Walker analysing races post race a few years ago was the correct way to incorporate jockeys, to do what they know, leave each role to the professionals.

@bella_anderson4 Of course I read it. You're arguing punters are being done a disservice by not having trained mounting yard analysts on every single broadcast. I'm politely explaining to you from someone heavily engrained in wagering in this country, punters do not care as much as you think.

@DanielGarb Hard to know where to draw the line though? Ideally you'd like to give him the pre season to work with them all properly but the World Cup will disrupt that. If we bomb out early in the Champions League, I see us making the call and getting rid of him.

That’s a terrible Liverpool result obviously & they’re in a clear rut. Defensively so weak, right now. But if people are calling for Slot to be sacked so soon after winning a title, then achievements don’t matter in football anymore the game is merely a vehicle to create drama.
