In other words, millions of barrels of oil will be removed from the market. Combined with the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and Al Fujairah port, it will shock the global economy to an unprecedented degree. Nonetheless, if the Saudis are lucky, they might sneak out some ships, pass through the Suez Canal, and go around Africa to reach eastern markets, but that would be too risky and too costly to make much difference. The Yemeni announcement that it will only target Saudi exports is also very smart. Announcing the closure of Bab al-Mandab would cause global backlash, including from China, but in this case there would be no backlash, only practical benefits to crash the global market. Especially because this announcement includes the possibility of targeting Saudi ports, which would make Saudi exports impossible. Time will tell.
