It's worth underscoring that @S_Fitzpatrick said she interviewed "more than two dozen people" about Kash Patel's conduct, "including current and former FBI officials, staff at law-enforcement and intelligence agencies, hospitality-industry workers, members of Congress, political operatives, lobbyists, and former advisers." Of particular note: "Hospitality-industry workers"

@MichaelRWear @DavidAFrench Trump played our revulsion of abortion to get our votes in 2016. Then he demanded dropping the issue from the GOP platform in 2024.

The "data" behind the claim that voting for and supporting Trump is not an inherently pro-life act is that *abortions went up during his presidency.* The evidentiary burden beyond that is not on @DavidAFrench or I (see my book Reclaiming Hope for a definitive assessment of the abortion debate during the Obama years), but on the people who persist in justifying persistent support for Trump on abortion--sometimes, nearly exclusively--in spite of his record. I think David's argument re: the libertine impulse is compelling. Conservatives used to understand that culture is important even if you can't always assess its impact in linear, obvious ways. It's been so strange to see conservatives argue that character and culture somehow don't matter, when it's an understanding of those things that, in my view, make conservatism so potent and resilient. It's why George W. Bush was so correct to speak of a "culture of life." Relatedly, Trump's clear insincerity on the issue, and so much of the pro-life movement's willingness to attach itself to Trump, undermined how Americans viewed the sincerity of pro-life arguments in general. I hope conservatives reclaim their insights regarding character and culture, because the nation needs them.

@coconservative7 Trump demanded the GOP abandon its historical pro life plank. Effectively, the 2 parties are the same on this critical issue.

David French (who effeminately blocked me long ago) is a pathetic, washed-up interloper. Let's review the Frenchisms from the debate with Allie Beth Stuckey: 1. Votes for Kamala Harris on the basis that she is "traditional conservative" on foreign policy (and claims Ukraine is an ally of the US). 2. Claims that the Dem/GOP abortion platforms are both pro-choice. 3. Won't tell people the truth about how God has made them via God-given pronouns because it's "unkind" and inflicts "unnecessary pain." 4. In defending no penalties for abortive women, claims treating abortions as categorically similar to other murders is "apples and oranges." 5. (this one is rich) Blames recent rises in abortions on Trump/MAGA libertinism taking hold on the right. Offers zero date to back up this claim, of course. 6. Pushes the left's anti-immigration enforcement narrative, using "harsh" detainment of children as a cudgel. 7. Continually re-centers Christian political engagement around empathy instead of truth. 8. Like the soulless neocon he is, he prioritizes foreign policy over cultural issues at home. 9. Calls an obvious unbeliever like James Talarico a Christian (obvious "toxic empathy"). He's no more qualified to handle the truth than Kamala was qualified to be president of anything except the local winery. Props to @conservmillen for not acknowledging French as a fellow believer, even in her charity as an interviewer. He's not. Go to protestia.com and search for "David French" to find all the receipts you need to confirm this.

Notice what @DavidAFrench never references in his willingness to treat Talarico as a true Christian brother. And that is what scripture says. Talarico says God is nonbinary and has denied the exclusivity of Christ as the only means to eternal life. French is in clear disobedience by treating Talarico as a Christian. —1 Corinthians 5:11–13, But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother if he is guilty of sexual immorality or greed, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or swindler—not even to eat with such a one…God judges those outside. ‘Purge the evil person from among you.’ —2 Thessalonians 3:6, In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers and sisters, to keep away from every believer who is idle and disruptive and does not live according to the teaching you received from us. —2 Thes 3:13-14, Take special note of anyone who does not obey our instruction in this letter. Do not associate with them, in order that they may feel ashamed. (Also, this is a repost so that people can see the video).

@LukithunderEWC @DavidAFrench @conservmillen I was thinking of John 4. Jesus talked with a humiliated woman without calling her a sinner. But, he could still acknowledge her sin in a closing comment and after she had become His disciple.

I just got past the part where @DavidAFrench and @conservmillen hashed things out about pronouns in David's appearance on Allie's show, I can get on board with David's stated default practice of avoiding pronouns entirely both to be respectful and to not affirm a lie, but his reasoning still strikes me as way too sentimental, he frames "calling them their non-preferred pronouns" as equivalent to a hurtful stab, and actively avoids calling them those non-preferred pronouns for the purpose of showing the fruits of the spirit, calling truth speaking a hurtful stab and calling avoiding it showing the fruits of the spirit is a dangerous game to play. My reasoning is simple, I don't want to make life needlessly complicated. Like David, if I were in conversation with a trans-identifying person or a trans affirmer I'd explain my reasoning for why I believe in the traditional biblical sexual ethic, but unlike his rationale of it being somehow "kind" to not say true pronouns when in other interactions with people outside talking about gender ideology issues specifically, for me it's about not making life needlessly complicated (like if the pharmacist identifies as trans, I don't need to make getting my cold medicine more complicated than it needs to be by dragging the gender ideology issue into a simple interaction/transaction like that), not about it somehow being a "hurtful stab" if I used the right pronoun.

@mirandadevine I am sure partisans in both directions heard what they believed before this interview. He seemed very calm and articulate to me. I don't agree with everything he says. But, I am grateful for his voice in a church which has run away from pro-life positions.

@megbasham I would bet the phrase uttered most in this podcast is "we agree on that." This is the basis of Christian Fellowship. We can disagree and debate on the secondary and tertiary issues. But, unity in the essentials is an indication of our actual faith.

After watching the full interview, it seems to me that French’s key problem is that he defines words like empathy, love, and kindness culturally rather than scripturally.

One point that occurred to me in this exchange is that French did not consider that it is a mercy to create real deterrence for seeking an abortion. If there were legal penalties, including potential jail time for soliciting an abortion, most women would not choose it. This would prevent the mental health struggles that often result from an abortion, and it also prevents a woman from adding the spiritual weight of murder to her soul. You can disagree with abolitionist tactics, but I don’t see how anyone with proper moral formation could fail to see how making it a legal risk to procure an abortion would be merciful to both mother and child.
Foundation to Abolish Abortion@AbolitionistFAA

🚨 BREAKING: @DavidAFrench said he is “worried” about abortion abolitionists and their “profound lack of empathy.” @DavidAFrench described prosecuting abortion as murder for all parties willfully involved as “moral folly” and said comparing abortion law to homicide law is “apples and oranges.” The abolitionist movement calls for equal protection of the laws for preborn babies, ensuring that all humans made in the image of God, whether born or preborn, are protected by the same laws against murder. 🎥 @conservmillen

@megbasham The major reasons women choose abortion are economic, and relational. If we worked on solving poverty and increasing the gospel Message penetration we would see a dramatic reduction in abortions.

@megbasham We’ve seen that legislation doesn’t reduce abortions. Since Dobbs, the number of abortions of increased. Do you know what does reduce abortions? Addressing the root issues. No surprise!

“we can’t use someone’s vote as a total as an assessment of their character.” What? French has not only done that to individuals, he has done it to evangelicals as a class!!! He has continually judged the character of evangelicals and found it wanting because they voted for Trump. In fact, just to say he found it wanting would be generous. He has absolutely reviled evangelicals’ character because they voted for Trump. It’s gonna be frustrating to watch David French try to rewrite his own history here. m.youtube.com/watch?v=KYPlrX…

@megbasham The sad part is that there are thousands of us who have watched his complete 180° turn over the last 10 years and it seems he doesn’t think he’s changed at all. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: 2015 David French would have some words with 2026 David French. 😬

That's a great point. I didn't make the connection while listening to the interview. I think one of his biggest "mask off" moments was his high praise for Talarico, just because Talarico is "nice." He writes off all the evil things Talarico says as just good-faith Christian disagreement.

If you’re disillusioned with the lies and psyops from globalists and corrupt religious leaders, I have some advice: Read the Bible. Read the words of Jesus for yourself. They are the ONLY thing that’s unassailable. They stood the test of time, and they always will.
