As we winded up a very productive #SPConference in LBPA Dergaon, we reflected upon the recent successes of Assam Police and focused on inter-district learnings. I reiterated that we will adopt a Zero Tolerance Policy on Illegal Immigration, Wildlife Poaching, Crimes against Women and Drugs. Over the last 2 days, we also discussed how the newly created Dept of Prosecution will give more teeth to the force and further improve conviction rates alongside discussions on the State's prison reforms. I also urged officials to keep people at the heart of policing with special focus on senior citizens and women. The Govt is fully supporting the modernisation efforts of the force with more institutions, more personnel & more facilities to improve the quality of policing and quality of life of our personnel. As newer forms of threats emerge, we should be prepared to deal with it accordingly to ensure that the environment of safety and security prevails in Assam. On 08.05.2025, the Directorate of Prosecution, Assam, in association with Kamrup Police, organised a One-Day Conference at the Guwahati Biotech Park, Amingaon on “Moving Towards Unified Prosecution for Effective Policing and Judicial Outcomes" under the guidance of Smt. Indrani Baruah, IPS, DIGP (CWR) Guwahati. The Conference was attended by Public Prosecutors and SPs, Addl SPs, OCs & IOs of 5 Districts. Sri Makhan Phukan, the Director of Prosecution delivered 2 Technical Sessions on the Occasion. Deputy Directors Shri Dhanesh Das, Shri Shantanu Bhattacharyya, and Shri Manash Haloi, also attended the Conference. On 06.04.2025, the Directorate of Prosecution, Assam, in association with Bongaigaon Police, organised a One-Day Conference at the Police Convention Centre, Bongaigaon, on “Moving Towards Unified Prosecution for Effective Policing and Judicial Outcomes.” The Purpose of the Conference was to bring a synergy between the Police Officials and Prosecuting Officers. On 27.03.2025, Shri Makhan Phukan, Director of Prosecution, Assam, chaired a conference for the first time after assuming charge of the Office, along with the Deputy Directors of Prosecution.
