E-relationships just have an incredibly low success rate. Of course it's not impossible but, if one person in the relationship meets someone irl who's interested in them it's basically over. E-dating is kinda reserved for shut-ins and extreme introverts especially in nerd culture, a last resort method for insecure shut-ins to find love that doesn't require them to go out into the world and risk discomfort or humiliation. Not even trying to be mean here because if not for my wife I would be in the exact same place with how bad my social anxiety is. Because it's long distance it simply won't fulfill you in the ways you're hoping it will, it won't truly fill that hole of loneliness, I hear so many "we plan to meet up" that never happens because that defeats the point of most online relationships, insecure/anxiety riddled people afraid showing vulnerability and risking themselves irl so they choose the safest and most risk-free route.
