@ask_aubry Ah yes, because men are well known for their *checks list* “long heavy periods”. 😒

Late starts. Back on the road. Should I stick to pink or green today?

@buffoir Oh I keep opening this app and being rapidly reminded that I really shouldn’t do that anymore. 😳 It’s a festering cesspit that never fails to leave me much more agitated than I began.

How did my feed end up full of RWNJs and antivaxxers. I have to keep reminding myself that this is not representative of the normal people in society. Thank god.

@SummerDietitian @cafebedouin My coach programs similarly Summer. I don’t often get to do deads and when I do it’s often sets of five. Heaviest he’s let me go since comp in August was deficit doubles. Coach dislikes the stimulus:fatigue ratio and prefers to build dead strength with other exercises.

My all time one rep max deadlift PR was 300lbs when I weighed about 250. Yesterday I repped out 5x 225, three times, at 160lbs. Don’t tell me you can’t build strength on a #glp1.

@bttnclckr Probably 5% here lol. But the point stands. High adiposity is an incredibly complex area. Some of it is absolutely lifestyle. A lot is environmental. But the contributors within individuals vary a *lot*. Blanket assumptions rarely apply.

I honestly want to know how the “Ozempic causes muscle loss” rumor began. And why it’s proliferating. *Weight loss* of any kind causes lean mass loss. If you resistance train + eat high protein, you can partially mitigate it.
BuccoCapital Bloke@buccocapital

Novo Nordisk HQ -VP 1: So, Ozempic causes muscle loss. What if...we sold ANOTHER drug to STOP the muscle loss? -VP 2: A drug...for our first drug. Is that legal? -VP 1: I think it's encouraged -VP 2: Does the 2nd drug have side effects? -VP 1: You brilliant son of a bitch...

@bttnclckr I have many patients who are experiencing similar (if less extreme) effects. It is a game changer, and it works best in the people who eat very well and exercise regularly.

This is the second time I've heard of a long term success story involving ozempic. Vs 100s that went horribly wrong. Including clients I've tracked through the entire process...who also strength trained properly. You are the outlier. But I am very happy for you, this peptide definitely seems to be bringing to somewhat of a homeostasis

@sueleelim @bttnclckr Gonna find another lifting comp this year I think. I’m testing my low bar squat max next week and can’t wait to see where it’s at now!!!

@bttnclckr This medication allows me to live like a normal person, with normal gut function. It’s undeniably health promoting. It reversed hypertension and insulin resistance. And it hasn’t stopped me getting strong as all hell. For me, it is a godsend.

@bttnclckr @brady_h And yes that is still the case. I had to spend two months off it recently due to supply issues. The hunger was overwhelming and constant. I had no capacity to trust my body anymore, as it simply did not tell me when it was full.

@bttnclckr @brady_h Untrue. I trained my arse off pre-drug. Didn’t do much. I’m one of the most disciplined people I know. Ozempic also massively improved my IBS, I would stay on it for that alone. Honestly it just feels like I have a normal functioning body now.

@bttnclckr @brady_h Yes, though mostly with machines, full body split 3 days per week. After the majority of the weight loss I transitioned to barbells and powerlifting.

@bttnclckr @brady_h And as for muscle: I bench bodyweight, squat 1.5x bodyweight, and deadlifted 2x bodyweight 3m ago, probably a little more now.

@bttnclckr @brady_h I never tracked calories. Went down 30kg over 2 years, prioritising a protein source at each meal. I tracked macros a few months ago and figured out I was eating about 70g protein per day, approx 1g/kg. Have subsequently increased that to 2g/kg for more gains.
