@RibombeeTeacher It's more about the difference of being an experienced or non-experienced horror fan.
No one is undeserving of being a "horror fan" just because they don't know ABC, this just means they are less seasoned than one who understands the mediums and past remedies that inspire today.

This level of elitism is disgusting and has no place in the fanbase. You don't need to know every single horror character or depiction to be a horror fan. Do better

Sorry not sorry, but if you're someone who is into the horror genre of any regard and isn't even remotely aware of some of the biggest figures of the genre that are also walking inspirations to properties you are interested in, you're kind of a poser.

@Creepergriff Jason is a huge horror character that maintains relevancy through the legacy of the franchise. He's only been less relevant because of the lawsuit years ago. You seem to heavily underestimate how largely popular Jason is, even if you're not fond of him, and that's fine.

@DocShock1 My friend, I have to be constantly reminded Jason exists. I watched the movies when I was a kid, but he's just not culturally relevant now. Hasn't been for decades.
He'll enjoy a resurgence in popularity, but I don't think it'll last long. Not with how plain his design is anyway

I’ve seen a lot of discussion around Jason finally coming to DBD, and I’ve seen people calling others “fake horror fans” because they didn’t know who he was. As someone who grew up loving the horror genre, all I have to say is this:

@Nardz7 Gun being in affiliation with the game doesn't necessarily mean they call the shots on these things. Once that lawsuit years ago cut the chord on their work, Gun effectively has no ounce of those rights. JU is likely using the game as a loophole to monetize the other Jasons.

Like those shirts & figures Horror, Inc are putting out of the game has Gun's name on them, so it seems they maintain some ownership of their work.

Hey! @Zernerlaw in your profession in law...does Horror Inc. (Jason Uni.) have the legal right to use the character designs for Jason from F13 the Game in other projects? Or are those specific "game versions" still under derivative works that belong to Paramount/New Line? 🤔

@FrostLouve I would understand someone knowing who Freddy Krueger is and not Legosi's Dracula, so that is fair. At the bare minimum, it feels like it would be common knowledge for some things, with or without context. It's like being a Marvel fan and not knowing who Spider-Man is.

@DocShock1 I just don’t think not knowing every major figure automatically makes someone a “poser.”
Horror has a massive history, and people are introduced to it through different eras and styles.
It just means they haven’t been exposed to that part of the genre yet.

@eatingfiber You guys can't be serious with this. It's only a little deeper than his normal voice. Go watch anything he's in and hear him speak and then go back to Rotta. Little difference at all.
My gf and I immediately spotted his voice the moment he spoke.

Other than that mid drink commercial, the ptb is gonna be the first time this Jason design gets to be presented as the character. If fortnite and CoD helped it grow on me, I'm gonna be sold on the way he moves here soon.

I hate this mask. And this isn’t a dig at DBD as Jason Universe unveiled the new mask years ago. It’s too narrow and gaunt. The lack of holes makes it look uncanny. Almost like what AI thinks a hockey mask looks like. Fix this before any movie is made🙏. FVJ mask for reference.

@Cardboardmando @MadzillaKOTH It's because the design is missing one thing almost every Jason mask has. Damage. The holes and stuff may be lesser but it's a part of Jason's designs that sticks in your head. The Jason Universe mask is dirty but it doesn't have visible damage so it looks too new.

@GHOTlKA Stg I hope you're not basing off of the concept art. Once cod and Fortnite got their models on display, the design in motion isn't that bad at all. Now that DBD has their hands on this design, they likely cooked with him.
