Alex Saab has just been extradited to the US. For many years, he acted as the Maduro family’s trusted businessman. This is pretty controversial given he became a Venezuelan citizen, although it would not be the first case for a foreign national who has been naturalised here. It’s also interesting how all government-related accounts have been publishing this communiqué.

It's official. The Venezuelan government confirms the extradition of Alex Saab to the US. The statement makes no mention of his past roles as diplomatic envoy and minister, only that he's a "Colombian national" and that it's a "well-known fact" that he's facing charges in the US
