Inside the Pokémon Center at Sunshine City (Tokyo), what started as a normal opening quickly turned into chaos.
Crowds pushed, tensions rose, and the situation got out of control within seconds.

Although this happened in a Pokemon Center, the tragedy wasn’t Pokemon related.
The attacker was believed to be her ex-boyfriend under a prior stalking prohibition.

@trysoju I don’t know about others posts, I’ve seen some about the TCG which is has been revolting, but there’s a whole ecosystem that does matter. One does not equal out another.
This was also before the stalking information was confirmed. I only work on facts, not heresay.

This is more of a statement on how Japanese broadcasting is using language to protect children’s youth.
Japan has a huge problem with protecting woman. A few days ago, there was Twitter talk about the exact store having issues with up skirt photos.

Japanese reporting is opting to use "Pokémon Character Shop" rather than "Pokémon Center," the name of the store
Pokémon Centers are a place of healing for children, a safe space, so it's nice that JP broadcasters are keeping that intact

@DoctorDazza Ah, I’d heard Pokémon Center on my end and that’s what brought me to conclude it was an NHK vs the rest issue, but it must run deeper than that then, I stand corrected

@DoctorDazza In this particular case, it’s due to being on NHK, the public broadcast that typically avoids mentioning brand names, stores, etc. as it must remain neutral and not endorse commercial entities. Though it will still mention the minimum, in this case "Pokémon", it won’t go further

I don't think anime ever got a properly mature journalistic scene overseas. A few people do good work but for the most part only influencer bros get any kind of access. Also the most prominent anime news site is owned by Kadokawa and plastered with video ads like a fandom wiki

Even though gigguk is annoying I wasn't really bothered by him getting to interview Yukimura since he was openly a huge Vinland Saga fan for ages. But I am annoyed that those guys who judged Inuyasha by a Spanish subtitled episode they watched at 2x speed got to interview him

@DoctorDazza I believe that in Japan they can’t declare that someone is dead until a medical examiner comes and confirms. The official statement is usually cardiac arrest or similar until it’s confirmed by authorities.
