What is hilarious is Economy is up, NHS improving, things are factually getting better but Labour want to get of their own Prime Minister as he is not improving things... 🫠

Wes Streeting's leadership launch today - if/when it comes - is against the backdrop of NHS figures showing the biggest fall in hospital waiting lists for 17 years Figures published this morning for the month of March show the Labour government has met its key interim NHS target of treating at least 65 per cent of patients within 18 weeks This target was announced by Streeting and Sir Keir Starmer in happier, more united days in January last year The overall NHS waiting list has also fallen to 7.11 million, down by half a million since Labour took power in July 2024, my colleague @eleanorhayward reports Streeting said: “Our plan for the NHS is working. This is the biggest cut in waiting lists in a single month in 17 years. It means we are right on track to deliver the fastest reduction in waiting times in the history of the NHS. Lots done, lots more to do.”

If Starmer is forced out, he’ll be the fifth PM in a row to last less than a full term. There are some structural issues making the job near impossible. Changing the name above the door won’t fix it.

I feel bad for Starmer. He’s a decent and intelligent guy. I hate that the rot in the polls seemed to start instantly with his response to the Southport riots, which says a lot about the sorry state (and trajectory) of our country when it was exactly the right response.

@WilliamWho27 Is changing their leader not being exactly like the tories. This mandelson thing is stupid but not worth the government collapsing. They need to reset and actually get on with it- they’ve done a lot of good they just suck at communicating it.

The truth is the best way to try & stop Reform is by having a new leader of the Labour Party.
They need to stop being Conservatives. We already have the Conservatives & Reform for that. Why not try being a left leaning party (which was originally Keir’s pitch to be the leader).

Huge change in Number 10 as Keir Starmer battles for survival. The casualties so far: * Morgan McSweeney, his chief of staff * Tim Allan, his director of communications * Chris Wormald, Cabinet Secretary (to be announced imminently) Stamer is attempting - once again - to reset his government in the wake of the Mandelson scandal More broadly I have lost count of the resets and the shifts in personnel in Number 10 Four directors of communication have come and gone in the last year, two chiefs of staff, two cabinet secretaries and there have been innumerable other changes The missions came and went - and with them the mission delivery board. The milestones came and went So many different heads of policy, so many different phases, all under one PM The changes have been accompanied by a succession of bitter internal civil wars As far as I can see none of the changes have done anything to improve Labour's poll ratings Starmer says he wants effective government to deliver for Britain, but is such an extraordinary churn in personnel - with the inherent instability that accompanies it - the way to deliver that?
