When a child is struggling with symptoms or behaviors, many parents begin searching for answers. Lab testing can sometimes help provide important clues about how the body is functioning, but choosing the right tests isn’t always straightforward. Doctors often consider many factors when selecting tests for children, including: • a child’s age and ability to cooperate • cost and insurance coverage • whether the test requires blood, stool, urine, or saliva • how accurate and interpretable the results are • whether the test is available in a clinical setting or at home Most clinicians begin with standard tests like blood panels to establish baseline health. From there, more specialized testing may help explore areas such as gut health, metabolism, immune function, or environmental exposures. The goal isn’t simply to find something “wrong.” It’s to better understand how the body’s systems are functioning and how to support them. 💛 Parents: Have you ever used lab testing to help understand your child’s health? What was your experience like? Learn how biomarkers can help reveal what’s happening beneath the surface of children’s health. “Our children are the canaries in the coal mine.” They are showing us that something about the way we are living is making this generation sick. At Documenting Hope, we believe children deserve more than diagnoses and lifelong labels. We ask the critical question most systems don’t: Why does this child have this symptom? Then we work to remove the obstacles to healing so children can grow up healthy, vibrant, and thriving. And here is the message we want everyone to hear: 💛 Healing is possible. Because we are so close to reaching our fundraising goal, our generous donors have agreed to extend the matching gift through the end of March. Your donation today will be doubled — helping us expand research, education, and healing resources for families. 🎥 Donate $50+ and receive the Fisher Island Symposium replays featuring insights from Dale Bredesen, MD, Lisa Miller, PhD, and other leaders in innovative healing. Every child who heals becomes proof that change is possible. This is an investment in the future of humanity. Donate here: documentinghope.com/donate

Many chronic illnesses may share the same underlying driver: stressed, dysfunctional cells. In The Cellular Wellness Solution, physician Bill Rawls, MD explains how five core stress factors, nutritional, mental, toxic, physical, and microbial, disrupt cellular health and contribute to chronic disease. The book explores how herbal medicine, lifestyle changes, and reducing the body’s total stress load may help restore balance and resilience. We break down Dr. Rawls’ framework, and the herbs he recommends, in our full review. 💛 Read the article and share with anyone who may find this information useful: documentinghope.com/suggested-book… @VitalPlan

When a child is struggling with symptoms or behaviors, one of the most confusing experiences for parents is hearing: “Everything looks normal.” But sometimes the issue isn’t that nothing is happening in the body — it’s that the right things weren’t measured. This is where biomarkers can help. Biomarkers are measurable signals in the body (from blood, urine, stool, saliva, or hair) that give clues about how different systems are functioning — things like inflammation, nutrient status, detoxification, immune balance, gut health, and more. Functional practitioners often use biomarkers to help: • Identify imbalances or dysregulation • Understand a child’s overall “body burden” or total load • Investigate possible root causes of symptoms • Track how the body responds to diet or lifestyle changes • Prioritize the safest and most effective interventions In other words, biomarkers can sometimes help families move from guessing to understanding. We’re curious about your experience. Have you ever used lab testing to try to understand your child’s health? 💛 Let us know in the comments below! 👇

BEFORE → AFTER: Grace’s Healing Story When Grace was just five years old, she started saying things that stopped her mom in her tracks: “Mommy, why does your hand look so far away… but I can still touch it?” Soon after, Grace began seeing people and objects distorted — stretched, far away, or out of proportion. Doctors eventually identified a rare neurological condition called Alice in Wonderland Syndrome. But that wasn’t the whole story. Grace had also been battling Lyme disease and persistent eczema, likely triggered by repeated tick bites while living in New York. Her family refused to give up. They changed their lifestyle. They prioritized sleep, sunshine, and time outdoors. They supported her immune system and healing step-by-step. 💛 Slowly, everything began to change. By ages 10–12, Grace had fully recovered. Today she’s a happy, energetic kid — a natural leader, a dreamer, and a social butterfly with her friends. Her mom says the biggest lesson from their journey: "Our bodies want to heal. We just have to support them." If your child is struggling with unexplained symptoms, don’t lose hope. 💛 Learn the 5 key things Grace’s mom did to support her healing. healing.documentinghope.com/grace/

When Grace was little, something wasn’t right. It started with severe eczema that wouldn’t go away. Then came the questions no parent expects to hear: “Mommy, why do you look so stretched out and tall?” “Why does my hand look far away… but I can still touch my knee?” Doctors ruled out tumors. Her vision was 20/20. MRI and EEG were normal. Eventually, Grace was diagnosed with Alice in Wonderland syndrome — a rare neurological condition that can be associated with Lyme disease. Her mom knew they couldn’t ignore it. So they made bold changes. They left a high-tick area. They prioritized deep rest. They simplified life. They supported her immune system. They chose a slower, more intentional path to healing. It wasn’t quick. It wasn’t easy. But it worked. Today, Grace is fully recovered — a thriving, joyful, energetic preteen. Healing is possible. Even when it feels overwhelming. Even when it feels rare. 💛 Want to know exactly what Grace’s mom did? NEW Healing Success Story: Grace Healed from Lyme Disease and Related Symptoms By the time she was 6, Grace had been bitten by many ticks. That’s when the symptoms appeared. “She would break out in incredibly bad eczema…anywhere she was damp, she was getting eczema.” But most concerning were the odd questions Grace was asking. “Mommy, why are you so stretched out and so tall? It's like your head is so high up in the air.” A pediatrician diagnosed Grace with Alice in Wonderland syndrome, a rare condition in which perception is distorted. And Lyme was the culprit. Grace’s family rallied to help her heal. They sold their home, moved across the country, added supplements and immune supports to their life, and adopted a slow, simple lifestyle. It worked. Today, Grace is fully recovered and thriving. Healing is real—and it’s possible for your child, too. What does it actually mean to “heal the gut”? It’s not just about removing foods. It’s about restoring the body’s ability to digest, absorb nutrients, regulate inflammation, and support brain and immune function. For many children, gut healing may include: • Cleaning up processed and chemical-laden foods • Identifying hidden food sensitivities • Supporting digestion, bile flow, and stomach acid • Rebuilding healthy gut bacteria • Using targeted healing diets when appropriate Sometimes progress is subtle — happening at a biochemical level before it’s visible. There is no single “right” healing diet. Some children improve on: • Autoimmune or elimination diets • Microbiome-focused protocols • Anti-inflammatory whole-food nutrition • Targeted therapeutic diets for neurological or immune support If you’re still looking for answers, you are not alone. 💛 Explore our guide to healing diets and foods. documentinghope.com/healing-diets-…

What happens when families are given only symptom management — but keep searching for root causes? Jake’s early childhood included multiple diagnoses: apraxia of speech, food allergies, eczema, asthma, and recurring infections. His family was told lifelong medication was likely. Instead, they pursued a comprehensive, root-cause-focused approach that included nutrition, targeted supplementation, and integrative therapies alongside supportive care. Today, Jake is a thriving high school student, active in sports and social life — and no longer living under the weight of those early diagnoses. Stories like this highlight the importance of: 💛 Personalized care 💛 Systems biology thinking 💛 Parent education and empowerment 💛 Integrative collaboration across disciplines Read the full success story and key takeaways for families and practitioners: documentinghope.com/success-storie… #documentinghope #donatenow #documentinghopeforautism #hopeforautism #autismhealing #loweringtotalload #totalloadcare #healingsuccessstory #healingsuccess #fromsymptomstosuccess #hopeisreal #kidscanheal #healingispossible #HealingTogether #IntegrativePediatrics #HolisticParenting #HealthyKids #FunctionalMedicine #ParentAwareness #ChildHealth #GutHealth #ChronicSymptoms #HopeForHealing #RootCauseHealing #TotalLoadTheory

NEW Healing Success Story: Jake’s Journey By the time Jake was just two years old, he was struggling with severe eczema, food allergies, and recurring ear infections. His mom was doing everything she was told to do — all the “right” things — yet Jake kept getting worse. Not better. And some doctors had already begun to give up. One dermatologist told her: “This kid is allergic to the world. He’ll be on medication for the rest of his life.” At the same time, Jake wasn’t speaking. He was diagnosed with childhood apraxia of speech. The turning point came when his family began working with an integrative doctor at age four. Through targeted testing, dietary changes, supplementation, and supportive therapies, everything began to shift. Within just three months, Jake’s speech improved dramatically. A little over a year later, his apraxia was completely gone. So was his eczema. Today, Jake is a junior in high school and thriving. He’s an athlete. A loyal friend. And he can eat freely. “He’s very grateful for that.” Healing is real. And it’s possible for your child, too. 💛 Learn the Top 5 Things Jake’s Mom Did to Help Him Overcome Food Allergies and Childhood Apraxia of Speech. Visit healing.documentinghope.com/jake/
