@repapjr @PatC42 @FelixTandem Its a geographical term, not a political one that dates back to a period before a british or Irish historical record existed. I understand the political ire around its usage but its the most common name for describing the islands off the coast of northern east Europe

@DodgyDries @PatC42 @FelixTandem By who? It's not a law, its not official. Its not an official term in any formal legal or international sense. It’s not recognised by international bodies (like the UN) as an official designation. There’s no treaty or agreement that formally establishes it.

@DodgyDries @FelixTandem Indeed 👍.... Britannia major as the name of the island on which England, Scotland and Wales sit .... No problem with that.... But history and British oppression of Ireland and Irish culture and language have befouled the term.
