When zoodonym posted this it was reported under the sharing private media option in an obvious attempt to silence us. this time they had to use the correct report category, sexual assault. Never been whacked for properly censored evidence before, ZTT crew is really trying.

@CarcosanDreams Humping, at least, is a social behaviour. I'm going to dive into some of those, too, because most don't have one distinct meaning, and so we always need to look at it from their perspective.

@DogMikeZC Can notice this with humping too. Like, sometimes dogs will do that even with dogs of the same sex too, in contexts that make little "sense" if equivocating it to human humping (such as being about to have dinner).

@DogMikeZC @wolfjlupus I have a female dog who was abused and can be uncomfortable with some human touch. She does them if she is restrained in a way that's uncomfortable for her, like while trimming claws. She does them less if she's had a very good day and is feeling relaxed and confident.

Kyon thought the dog was a stray because that housemate had a history of looking after strays. After disagreements peaked, Kyon scheduled the euthanasia to set a deadline.

@hereforthezoo @MalcumAni I was told he'd been with them for much longer than that, so I'd thought maybe they were feeding him better at one point. But maybe it was actually only the previous owner feeding him better if the story is now that they never gave him a chance.

@CeresFallen I'm trying to be careful about language, just because "anal" alone can be misconstrued. I've heard it said as "anal pen of dogs", which is a bit of a mouthful.

@FidoFidelisZ I'll look some stuff up. A lot of the practical information about a dog's emotional threshold will be from training sources. Otherwise we mostly need ethological material, which would require a deeper engagement than I expect on Twitter.

Me when I listen to ZooTT episodes and I hear myself speak (I physically do this every one of my lines and my dog does not understand why my voice is coming out of two places)

@zoowithnoname In the long term, enrichment will help them learn better emotional regulation so they can actually communicate instead of blowing off steam.
Fundamentally, we have some core responsibilities to take care of for healthy, happy dogs.

Because of all this, we should be curious, and not dismissive, about what causes our dogs to display zooming behaviour. Remember that they were momentarily checking out, and so zoomies never constitute consent.
