I got a library card in 2009, never returned the book, moved twice, changed my name, got married.
Last month I walked into that same library.
The lady at the desk looked at her screen and said "you still have Eat Pray Love checked out."
I paid the $47 fine. No questions asked. Neither of us brought it up again.
I think about that sometimes.

My neighbor knocked on my door and asked if I could watch his dog for the week. Very well-trained he said. Practically runs itself. It has been eleven days. He has not returned my calls. The dog and I have developed a deep and complicated relationship.

I called to cancel my health insurance because I couldn't afford the premium.
The rep asked why.
I said $480 a month for a plan with a $6,500 deductible isn't insurance.
It's a monthly fee I pay to still go bankrupt if anything actually happens.
She didn't have an answer.
