Pierce County 4x4 Search and Rescue completed our Advanced Recovery Course this weekend. Day one focused on mechanical recovery techniques, including kinetic ropes, Maxtrax, and Hi-Lift jacks. During training, I successfully recovered a GX460 over a log and used my truck as an anchor point.

@KevinMelnuk The big argument against rivian is how the r1 is losing money. What I hope is that the r2 can null that argument with profit. What do you mean by that last part?

@DomDoesMedia What kind of question is this? Ever heard the ceo talk about how the BOM is 100% contracted and factory utilization helps R1 margins improve by 10-20%+? Common twitter users. You don’t run $20 B companies.

@CrazyWeeMonkey Even with out the articulation as we see here, we still get power to the wheel on the ground if the other is up in the air. Not perfect but works.

@DomDoesMedia Yep, the articulation isn't that good and it lacks the swaybar disconnect system the R1T/S have to improve that. It'll be a great softroader but it's more RAV4/Highlander than 4Runner.

I may catch flak for this, but I don't believe the R2 will have the same off-road prowess as the R1. I know the specs are completely different, but I would almost equate this to a Subaru off-road vs. a 4Runner off-road. That means, instead of full all-terrains, the Falken Wildpeak A/T Trails may be best.

@daemonti @DomDoesMedia Yeahhh but if you’re lifting to that height you’ve already admit stock vehicles don’t meet your needs so it’s kinda a moot point 🤷🏽‍♂️ it’s a rav4 with the ground clearance of a stock ORP is my thinking. A looooot of people wouldn’t even feel comfortable going into 1’ of water.

@DomDoesMedia Rivian is fancy Subaru. The majority of OFF-ROAD capable SUVs (R1 Included) never see off-road. They are all selling a lifestyle most aren't living. The same say most sport cars don't see a track.
