Thursday, we lost our good friend, teacher and mentor Ben Arnet. 24 hours later, dozens of his current and former students and colleagues returned to the football field to do what he taught us to do best. Ben’s legacy lives on and is present around the nation🤍

This past week, we shot a 3 part special digging up the old @MizzouFootball @KUAthletics rivalry to air ahead of next weekend’s huge game. A tale 14 years in the making… We both covered the last game in 2011 at arrowhead stadium. He didn’t finish the script yet… but I will

I was set to go live with Ben today for Mizzou’s first game. Tiger nation is celebrating a win, but KOMU is mourning a loss. Thank you Ben for everything you have done for us.

@BenArnetKOMU got started in broadcast a few years ahead of me in college but I always saw him at every Tiger’s game when I started out shooting highlights for KMIZ. He was always a pro and he always put Mizzou first. I’m praying for his family tonight.

Missouri Task Force 1 DSAR Team Deploys to Pilot Grove, MO for Tornado Damage Boone County, MO – April 2, 2025 – Missouri Task Force 1 (MO-TF1), a division of the Boone County Fire Protection District responded to a State of Missouri Fire Mutual Aid request and deployed its Disaster Situation Awareness and Reconnaissance (DSAR) team to Pilot Grove, Missouri, this afternoon at approximately 12:30 PM. The DSAR team, a specialized unit within Missouri Task Force 1 (MO-TF1), is highly trained in disaster response and equipped to conduct wide-area search operations, disaster mapping, and situational oversight in affected regions. Utilizing Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sUAS), experienced Small Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (sUAV) operators, and advanced Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping technologies, the team provides invaluable real-time intelligence to assist in the coordination of recovery efforts. The primary mission of the DSAR team is to deliver live reconnaissance imagery and disaster mapping to local Incident Management Teams, the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), and the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC). This critical information supports swift decision-making and aids in the efficient deployment of resources. The team’s deployment comes in response to significant tornado damage in Pilot Grove. The three members and two vehicles returned home safely this evening.

🚒 Boone County Fire Protection District (BCFPD) volunteers respond to 43 calls for service in one day. March 14th was an extraordinary day for our crews. In just one day, BCFPD volunteer firefighters were dispatched to 43 calls for service—significantly higher than our typical daily call volume, considering our usual monthly average of 325 calls. From battling fires to handling medical emergencies, our team was out in full force, dedicated to protecting our community. Here’s a look at the calls we responded to: • 21 natural cover fires • 1 residential structure fires • 1 motor vehicle accident • 1 vehicle fire • 7 medical emergencies • 8 downed power lines • 4 smoke or fire alarms The combination of red flag fire conditions and high winds from the storm system that moved through our area contributed to yesterday’s increased call volume. Despite all obstacles, our firefighters remained steadfast, tackling each call with unwavering professionalism. We are beyond proud of the selflessness and commitment of your Boone County Fire Protection District volunteers. These dedicated firefighters always step up to lend a helping hand, no matter the circumstances, to keep our community safe Thank you to our volunteers and everyone who supports them. You make all the difference. #bcfpd #NeighborsHelpingNeighbors #ahelpinghand #volunteer
