After waking up this morning to the horror of having no clean pants, I now find myself air-drying a pair (azure blue with mustard piping in case you're visualising) by holding them aloft on the balcony. It's in these quiet moments I think about the futility of certain things...

I like Tonali, he's a decent box to box midfielder. But can anyone honestly say, after watching him play for the last couple of seasons that you would be happy if we were paying £100m for him? #nufc

@southernmag365 In theory maybe but in practice it takes a long time to evolve the squad even with a ton of cash. Think of Liverpool with the Coutinho sale and Spurs with Bale - took a while to beat fruit after initial splurge. And they had no restrictions.

This is hard one but IF and it’s a big IF we sell Tonali and Bruno for around 180m and IF we invest in six 20-40m players with high potential the overall squad would improve a lot. No good having 3/4 great players and the rest below average #nufc

@ShellNUFC2006 To be fair I think we sold Elliot due to PL rules but these latest sanctions are based on UEFA rules. If memory serves (I'm too lazy to look it up) the 2 sets of rules will completely align from next season.

@NUFCMurph @rory1542 Ok but like I said, they'll probably do well for a while - maybe a season or even 2 - and then it will go tits up again because they have nothing beneath first team and no plan. Yoyo-ing between 6th and 17th despite their ability to spend at will. For #nufc it's much harder.

NUFC must also pay another €3m due to breaching UEFA's 70% Squad Cost Ratio (SCR) target in calendar year 2025. This is being viewed as a positive outcome by NUFC given sanctions placed on Chelsea/Villa in recent years.

NUFC reach settlement with UEFA following Financial Sustainability Regulations breach to June 2025. The club accept the three-year settlement, which includes €3m financial penalty, with a further €7m suspended 'pending future compliance'.

@NUFCMurph @rory1542 I've seen no evidence of investing well at Spurs. They've spunked millions just in compo for sacked managers. De Zerbi might do well for a while then it will go south again because they have no plan beyond buying marquee players. Their owners seem more interested in NFL tie ups.

@NUFCMurph @rory1542 What "Project" do Spurs have? What are their goals? All I see is a disjointed club focussed on revenue spending hundreds of millions on flavour-of-the-month managers and players that have high ratings on FIFA. Finishing 17th twice is their own doing and mismanagement. #nufc

@Footylnsider Losing Isak so late and replacements being different profile combined with the fact the squad beneath the first 11 is relatively thin when playing 3 games a week. #nufc needs CL football to grow but isn't ready for it yet basically.

So last year, #NUFC supposedly had 100M Tonali, 100M Bruno, 80M Gordon, 80M Lewis Hall, 70M Livramento, all of whom are targetted by big clubs, and another 200M worth of incomings upon that, and still finished 12th? What went wrong? What's going wrong

@consettphil No I've was season ticket holder from 1998 until 2 years ago. Cant get there these days but I watch every single match.

@DomW964 You must have only watched games Vs the "big 6" and UCL games. They're the only games they showed up.

The Bruno situation goes 1 of 2 ways this summer. 1. Bruno signs a new bumper contract with #NUFC 2. He sold to another club. If its the latter, this is all on Howe and he should be sacked (sooner the better)

@consettphil Just no evidence for any of this. I saw tired displays and an inability to defend a lead. I never saw a team that were not playing for the manager.

@DomW964 It will, the squad have clearly not played for Howe last season. The club backed Howe, so only option left for players is to leave.

Bruno G will soon be 29 and only 2 yrs left on his contract. This is tricky for the club - either we sell him now for big money or we offer him a massive new contract. He might sign (with God knows what clauses) or he stay and run his contract down. Rock and a hard place. #nufc

I don't believe any serious players are going to move while their side is still competing in the WC. Makes zero sense. So Buckle up for a few more weeks of Romano trying to destabilise the Bruno G #nufc position but save your energy for now. #nufc

Someone explain what's wrong with James Garner? He carried Everton last season and was excellent in almost every game I saw him play. Everton probably won't even sell him but if they do it will be huge money. (Unless there's a contractual situation I'm not aware of) #nufc
