Yesterday we celebrated St Patrick’s Day (a little early) in Phnom Phnom with our friends from @irlembvietnam. An important day for all the people of Ireland! Happy St Patrick’s!

The @RNLI are a fantastic British charity that has been around for over 200 years, keeping people safe at sea and working internationally to prevent drowning. Great to meet and hear about their fantastic work with local partner Hile Teuk in Siem Reap province.

Amb @DomWUK met representatives of the Khmer Will Party and Candlelight Party for a regular catch‑up, discussing Cambodia’s political environment and plans ahead of the 2027–28 elections. The UK remains committed to supporting democratic and inclusive processes. #UKKH

Delighted to be one of the minority of men to join the Ministry of Women’s Affairs Peace Walk for International Women’s Day. A privilege to hear the First Lady’s emotional speech and to see friends from government and gender rights organisations.

Of Cambodia’s workforce of over 10m, over 4.5m have only a basic level of education or lower. With targeted training, it feels possible to enhance output by $0.50 an hour. If we could reach even half the 4.5m, that would generate additional $2.25bn GDP/yr (or +5% points growth)

Delighted that the UK Skills Partnership has a launched a new collaboration with the Ministry of Labour to drive forward vocational training, helping develop new sectors of the economy, enhance productivity and create jobs for Cambodians.

Happy International Women’s Day! I joined the lovely running community in the Women’s Run 10km today. It was great to see 4000 participants showing their support for Cambodia’s amazing women!

As we celebrate Women this week, we welcomed Mak Molika of the Cambodian Disabled People’s Organisation to our Women Leader Dialogue. She shared her journey advocating for disability rights &inclusion in 🇰🇭; reminding us that one determined voice can drive real change.💜#IWD2026

Our Chevening scholars are all impressive people. It was lovely this week to join an alumnus to watch another alumnus perform in a fantastic play and then to welcome home the 2024-2025 scholars, now back in Cambodia and ready to make an impact!

Cambodian young people fill me with optimism about the future of this great Kingdom. Over the last week, I enjoyed interacting with students at De Montfort University Cambodia & the National University of Management and with young people who use student support app, Bamnang.
