Inconvenient Truths — Jennifer Zeng Reports
On this day twenty-seven years ago, the Chinese Communist Party began its most brutal persecution of Falun Gong. On this day in 1999, I was still in Beijing. At four o’clock in the morning, I received a call from a fellow Falun Gong practitioner telling me that the CCP was about to begin suppressing Falun Gong. I decided to go to the State Council’s Letters and Visits Office to appeal and ask the authorities not to persecute Falun Gong. At a little after six that morning, I arrived at Fuyou Street in Beijing, where the office was located. But the moment I appeared, police officers who had been staying in the police van in wait there all night seized me, forced me onto a bus, and took me to Shijingshan Stadium. Thousands of Falun Gong practitioners and I were detained there for the entire day. From that day onward, one hundred million Falun Gong practitioners around the world were thrust into an ordeal of life and death, blood and fire. Many have even lost their lives. Yet we have neither yielded nor repaid violence with violence. With firm belief, tenacious effort, and a heart of great compassion and forbearance, we have resisted and dissolved the CCP’s unprecedented evil, and we are now hastening its final disintegration and demise. Please stand with us in defending justice in this world. A note about the photograph: It was taken in 2010, when I attended the annual candlelight vigil in Washington, D.C., commemorating Falun Gong practitioners who had been persecuted to death. The tears covering my face were shed for my fellow practitioners who had died. At the same time, they were also tears of profound emotion. As music composed by Falun Gong practitioners played during the vigil—music filled with compassion and sorrow, yet also with unyielding strength, perseverance, and the nobility of life—I was touched at the deepest level of my being. I was profoundly moved by the fact that, despite such brutal persecution, Falun Gong practitioners have remained steadfast in upholding the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, and by the enormous sacrifices and contributions they have made. This photograph was also used on the poster for the award-winning documentary Free China, in which I am the principal subject: freechina.ntdtv.org

27 years too long! The persecution of Falun Gong has been going on for 27 years. Follow @FalunInfoCtr or check faluninfo.net for more info. This is a photo of me taken in 2010 while I participated in the annual Falun Gong candlelight vigil event in Washington, DC. This image was also used in the award-winning documentary "Free China: The Courage to Believe" (freechina.ntdtv.org), which features my story.

@MasterofopenE @PaulStewartII Simply false. The CCP is responsible for more deaths than any other. Go. Read. You've fallen for anti-West narratives comparing the imperfections of liberal democracies to the evils of autocracies. I've travelled the world. Not 🇨🇳 : I'm not allowed in. Lord, useful idiots 🙄

@DominicCardy Yes he is very wrong on the hydration, even dead water will hydrate you, but he is right that city tap water is bad, and as for dog kibble I haven't eaten any to check if I would be more or less thirsty

@MasterofopenE @PaulStewartII No. I'm describing China. If you confuse the two you're very confused. The U.S. is a terribly-run democracy declining info autocracy, that once did more to advance human freedom than any other. China is the most murderous and repressive slave-state in human history.

Never ever trust China. During his official visit to Manila in 1995, Want Yi, then Chinese official, said that China has no plan to build any military facilities at the Mischief Reef. Guess what, a full-scale military base with an airstrip has been built.

@RJMcClelland Something water-based, to be clear. Apparently some claim watermelon qualifies, but given its main selling point is to be thirst-quenching, that seems as weird as your argument - but much less weird than buddy's loopy claim.

@RJMcClelland 😂 Name something hydrating (causes to absorb water) but not thirst quenching (serving to relieve thirst). And try to do it without AI. And tell me again how water isn't hydrating - or thirst-quenching - without minerals, etc, which was buddy's 💯 false claim that you defended.

@RJMcClelland Read nonsense before endorsing it: "The thirst doesn't come from needing water. It comes from needing minerals the water doesn't have." Also thirst-quenching and hydrating are synonymous.
