I’ve talked to several indie acts planning tours for this year, and many are now reconsidering. Between the TSA meltdown and rising gas prices ($4/gallon nationally), the math is getting harder to justify. Touring was already brutal for non-superstars, and now it’s even worse...

When I’m in LA, I respect the dress code. I’m not out sightseeing in Compton or any notorious hood. I keep myself in Hollywood, Beverly Hills, or Santa Monica. Y’all be out there playing. I got family in LA, they schooled me a long time ago. You can’t play out there.

A masterpiece transcends genres as well, whereas a classic typically is confined to a particular genre/demo.

Every masterpiece is a classic, but not every classic is a masterpiece.
A “classic” album can capture a moment in time but possess filler & flaws.
A “masterpiece” has no filler, is technically flawless, every component is intentional, and brings enlightenment.

So what’s the difference between a Classic and a Masterpiece? I e always said TPAB is a Masterpiece. I feel like the musicality is the extra element that separate the two.

@BrianZisook I just posted about this exact thing on my LinkedIn page yesterday.
Music lacks the immersive experience it once had when the consumer had to physically go and “cop” the album, open it, read the linear notes, pop in the cd, and finally step into the artist’s world (listen).
