20 years ago today this group won a National Title. The first team title for the NSIC. Before this team, the NSIC was the NCC’s ugly step-child. Of the 6 games, the easiest games were the regional final against Northern and the national title game against Virginia Union.

This weekend, we honor something bigger than football🔥🦅
In the first-ever First Americans Bowl, our helmets and jerseys will display symbols of Cherokee Nation culture, including “Hawk” written in the Cherokee language and the Cherokee Nation flag. Each player will also wear a special 2025 bowl patch, celebrating their hard work and the meaning behind this historic game

I experienced a similar situation at John Brown, another SAC school, when they dropped their Comm dept. out of nowhere. There was no warning and underclassmen weren’t even allowed to graduate with their intended major.
Soulless cuts like these are unfortunately not uncommon.

Unfortunately, I have experience with a situation like this, and all I can say is that this seems like an incredibly stupid, knee jerk decision. From the information I have heard, neither coach was warned or given the opportunity to fundraise. golfoklahoma.org/oklahoma-city-…
