So let me get this straight, lads. You’re saying you voted confidence in a party and a government that you clearly have no confidence in whatsoever. Brilliant. Truly inspiring stuff. There’s something oddly comforting in knowing we’re represented by politicians who can look their voters in the eye, make promises, and then casually vote against them the moment the party whip cracks. Principles? Optional. Backbone? Negotiable. But sure look, why stand by what you told the people who elected you when it’s far easier to nod along, keep the seat warm, and toe the party line.

"They couldn't have handled it worse...every time they opened their mouths, another 10,000 people supported us": Demonstrators outside the Dáil vent their frustrations about the Government's handling of the fuel protests of the last week.

"I have those black hands, with grease, with oil, I know what is to be an agricultural contractor!" The Irish government will remain in place after winning a vote of confidence 92-78, but nothing will ever be the same. Something big is brewing in Ireland, this government will not last the full term.

The laughing and joking going on in the Dàil here is ridiculous. The two boys slouched back in their chairs sneering as if they are absolutely untouchable. Sickening to see while the average man on the street is being f*cked over left, right and centre every day of the week.

The National Party | An Páirtí Náisiúnta
Cllr Patrick Quinlan @PQuinlanNP was the only councillor to correctly identify the ongoing fuel protests as the national issue that they are. While others are now jumping cautiously on the bandwagon, the National Party were the only party providing real tangible support on the ground, helping to keep the protestors supplied with food and drink etc.
