The problem with letting players enter their last two years is that if you can't reach an agreement, he's more than likely to push to leave as a free agent if he has one year left.
Clubs would rather cut off players who aren't ready to extend when they have two years left. The problem with Cucurella is that it seems planned when he extended with an improved contract but didn't extend the duration.
It is likely he's not comfortable extending or Chelsea don't want to extend him.
Another thing is that he's a high earner. Close to 200k, they will prefer to cut him off for someone that will be a lot cheaper to service.

Just noticed that Marc Cucurella's contract expires in 2028. That's in two years. If we don't have an option to extend by another year, then it's likely he will leave this summer. This administration doesn't want players to enter their last two years. And there are no scheduled talks to extend it this summer. 🤔

He's 28 and won't come cheap. Newcastle would demand around £70m-£80m, even though his resale value is currently very low. That's why he's not attracting much interest.
His best option is to wait until next summer, when he will have one year left on his contract, or even leave as a free agent at 30.

Bruno Guimaeres has the same G/A as Enzo in the league in less games (& from deep). More physical/defensive edge, with similar passing influence + authority on the pitch. Very similar talismanic character. Enzo is probably better, but Bruno G is arguably more valuable in the PL because of its physical nature. He’s been a top 5 CM itl for years, but always been out of reach. For the first time Newcastle look ready to sell some of their stars & would likely be open to him especially due to his age (could maybe even use Delap as bargaining chip). Feels like the most obvious/realistic plan of action if Enzo goes, that solidifies us for a few years at least. Enzo OFFERS a lot to a team. One of the midfielders I could count on my hand that matches up (& could even, dare I say it, feel like an upgrade). Xhaka to Leverkusen type buy. If you want “leadership” “PL experience” you cannot look further than him. All the other top targets are likely going elsewhere. Let’s hope it doesn’t come to this, but the Enzo stuff seems to be heating up.

Negotiation is a two-way thing. Chelsea clearly wants him to stay, but if he's asking for £250k-£300k per week and the club says no, he can't be disappointed with that.
From what his agent Pastore said, it's down to money—what they think he deserves. But the problem is if we give it to him, we will be forced to adjust Palmer’s and Caicedo’s accordingly in a year. That's how it works for players' representatives.
However, for Enzo, he still has six years or thereabouts on his existing contract. Chelsea can still decide to keep him for 2-3 years if they want. I don't see anything to worry about.
