☀️HIGHER PRESSURE, DRIER WEATHER & A LITTLE WARMER NEXT WEEK🌡️ Higher pressure will build next week with the weather becoming drier by Wednesday. Drier conditions will continue into next weekend with some nice sunshine also ok the forecast. The best of the sunshine all be in the western and northern half of Ireland with cloudier conditions at times in eastern areas. At the moment it does look like the month will end on a drier note but potentially a little cooler over the last week of March. During next week some days temperature could get into the mid teens or just a little higher with nights still felling cool with the slight risk of frost for some under clear skies. Heavy rainfall continues to move from west to east this morning with some spot flooding in places. As the rain moves across the country you will see a good drop in temperatures as the cold front moves through. Temperatures in the west and northwest of 6C to 7C with the cold front already passed but still up to 13C in parts of the south and east with the cold front passing there soon. Rain will clear to the east this afternoon but heavy showers this evening and tonight will turn increasingly wintry from the northwest with rain, hail sleet and snow. Some snow accumulations will be possible across the northwest particularly especially closer to Friday morning before dawn. WEEKEND OUTLOOK - THE RAIN WILL BE MILDER 😂 As we head into the weekend milder conditions are expected with some places potentially reaching 14C or 15C in the east tomorrow with temperatures in general between 10C to 14C. Unfortunately Saturday looks like a rather dull and overcast day with outbreaks of rain moving in from the Atlantic later in the morning spreading to all areas during the Afternoon and evening with some heavy bursts, a few drier spells potential later in the day mainly in the west Midlands. Sunday will see heavy showers during the day after a somewhat drier start during the morning, showers increasing later in the morning and over the afternoon with showers heaviest and most frequent across Ulster and Connacht, temperatures on Sunday between 7C and 13C. The outlook for next week is for the weather to stay on the milder side with unsettled conditions with spells of rain and heavy showers. Some heavy showers around this afternoon with a few isolated thunderstorms also in the mix with the risk of some hail. Many also getting some lovely sunshine between these showers. Showers will continue tonight mainly across Atlantic coastal counties with a few wintry falls possible over the mountains and high ground areas. Some good Clear spells tonight in places at times with risk of some frost with lows down to 0C to 2C with highs of 4C to 5C. Looking ahead to early next week things will be on the colder side with Monday and Tuesday nights set to be cold with a sharp frost for some with lows down to -3C for some. Monday will start with showers some potentially wintry with isolated thunderstorms but very similar again to today's weather with sunshine in between. Tuesday woo be a dry day with good sunshine everywhere. At the moment there is some uncertainty for the weather for Wednesday at present the European and GFS weather models have a Low pressure system feeding rain up across Ireland during the morning and afternoon but stalling as it hits cold air in place over Ireland so a few places could see some snowfall again on Wednesday with weather warnings possible very similar conditions to Saturday only that there is a high risk of places seen snow on the ground due to the weather system stalling. At the moment there is 3 scenarios. 1 - the west, midlands and northwest see snowfall as the rain hits cold air with some snow accumulations 2- the weather system stalls further south with rain, sleet and snow over parts Munster and south Leinster. 3 - the system stays further south and missing altogether with colder conditions staying in place a little bit longer. Later Monday were should have a better idea. At the moment it's 50/40 between scenario 1 and 2 with scenario a little bit more ahead of 2 at the moment.
