He thought it was a joke.
It was Warren Buffett calling from Nebraska. He’d read Lynch’s book and wanted permission to use one line:
“When you sell your great companies and add to the losers, it’s like watering the weeds and cutting the flowers.”
Lynch said yes. They’ve played bridge together ever since.
