@zakfilm Thought Jennifer Lawrence was fabulous. Haven’t seen the Amanda S movie yet. I think the movie Poor Things saw the main character played by Emma Stone through the “male gaze” And I hated it.

I think it is interesting how the voters didn’t take too kindly to Amanda Seyfried and Jennifer Lawrence’s performances despite both giving career best work with their recent roles. As much as we like to think the Academy welcomes complex female characters, that’s mostly the case when the narrative suits them. When they are no longer sanitised portraits that make the audience deeply uncomfortable with their defying, even resentful attitudes they don’t get nearly as much appreciation for it. Which would explain why Jessie Buckle is sweeping the competition even if Rose Byrne seemed the exception to this perception, another role that’s similarly difficult to stomach.

Best in Show is available on Netflix right now & I’m going to continue pushing this film on my timeline for the foreseeable future because every single person alive should watch this movie. Catherine O’Hara was a comedic genius. I don’t know how else to put it. We lost a giant.

This morning I got a call from my boss and rushed out the door, totally forgetting to top off the cat food. When I got home from work at night, the second I opened the door I saw my cat running over with her food bowl in her mouth. She dropped it right in front of me, then stuck out her little tongue and gave me this face that was basically screaming, “I’m mad.” That’s when I remembered—she’d probably been hungry all day. I hurried to the cabinet to grab the kibble. She was so hungry, taking huge bites. Then I noticed her water was gone too, so I ran to refill that as well. After she finished eating, she didn’t even look at me. She went straight to the scratching post and fell asleep. Normally she would’ve come right back over asking to be held. So I went and grabbed a can of wet food and patiently tried to make it up to her. Watching her eat happily made me laugh. From now on, I’d rather go hungry myself than forget to feed my cat— because my cat is not easy to win back. By Maryam Mary

Sorry but I just watched #SongSungBlue, and I have to say, Kate Hudson truly shines—she absolutely deserved her Oscar nomination!
