Furman's Alex Wilkins has had a fantastic freshman season leading Furman back into the NCAA tournament The 6-5, 175 pound PG averaged 17.7 PPG, 2.1 RPG, 4.7 APG while shooting 45.9% from the field. From the jump, Bob Richey led his star freshman run the offense, Wilkins's is a pace heavy guard... has a clear cut downhill mindset. Yet not an above the rim athlete, does get creative using his footwork to find openings. Streaky shooter but showed during the SoCon tournament, he can develop into a good shooter, shot 45% from 3 on 6.7 attempts per game over 3 games. Needs to fill his frame but I do really like the upside, ton of raw talent.

First Half of Junior year.

I have watched several Juco players and teams since the fall almost daily. The style of play doesn’t translate to the D1 level at all. Several games shows guys taking quick bad shots, making bad passes, gimmick defenses, and, bad reads. Several coaches have said the same thing when chatting with them at some of the fall show cases. AAU gives a similar vibe of letting players “ ball out”. Coaches are looking for role players not stars and some of these dudes think they need to be a star and score instead of playing the right way.
