There seems to be a migration taking place this November with many of the moth community heading over to Bluesky. If you're not there already I hope to see you there soon. Same handle. Posts on here may dwindle @BradfordNature @BritishMoths @DoubleKidney

Out near the Strid at Bolton Abbey today. What a great tree this was. Lots of blister mines (a few of which are now spending the winter in my wood store) and the feeding signs and hole left by Heliozela sericiella the Oak Cutter. #VC64 @BradfordNature

English

@Pazonaut @AndyDNunn That looks more like surface feeding I'm afraid, rather than a mine within the leaf.
English

I’m sorry to bother you again @AndyDNunn and @DoubleKidney but I have finally found a mine on aspen. Not sure if it’s lepidopterous

English

@jesika55551 @Pazonaut @BC_Yorkshire @savebutterflies @StNicksFields @ynuorg @YNET4 @YorksWildlife @rewildyorkshire @MOTHIDUK No that's fine. No doubt about the identification.
English

@jesika55551 @Pazonaut @BC_Yorkshire @savebutterflies @StNicksFields @ynuorg @YNET4 @YorksWildlife @rewildyorkshire @MOTHIDUK That's great. Looks fine for Wormwood. There has been at least one more in the county this year. Do send me the details - gridref, date etc.
English

@AndyDNunn @MigrantMothUK @dgcountryside I think it has to be Silver Y. I'm trying hard to make it into something else but I'm failing!
English

@AndyDNunn @vc28wildlife @Pazonaut Indeed interesting. We've 50 records of microtheriella on hornbeam on the county database, but very few of floslactella - in fact they are nearly all yours Andy! You'll have to breed some out and see if we have carpinella.
English

Is it at all possible to ID these mines on hornbeam please?VC61 @AndyDNunn. Only just starting out on these after an excellent morning in the field with @DoubleKidney last month. Lots to learn!

English

@Pazonaut It's the joint fourth latest. The latest on the database for Yorkshire is 11th November.

Musotima nitidalis (Marbled Fern) on the sheet next to the trap this morning, Driffield, East Yorkshire. New to the county just a few weeks ago. I believe there have now been at least 7 individuals in Yorkshire including this one.

Diasemiopsis ramburialis was the best of the migrant activity to reach the centre of the country, and our #Yorkshire garden last night. Also, Scarce Bordered Straw, Delicate, Udea ferrugalis, Gem x 3, and others.

Radford's Flame Shoulder to light, Driffield, East Yorkshire last night. 78/30 moths. With the first for Yorkshire at Spurn earlier this week and another at N Ferriby last night, how many more are in Yorkshire right now? @DoubleKidney @BC_Yorkshire @BritishMoths @MigrantMothUK

Stigmella myrtillella (Bilberry Dot) - There's probably loads of these out there to be found, but it's only the second record for #VC64. The first being in 1883. #Otley #Chevin #moths @BritishMoths @BradfordNature @WildaboutOtley

Palpita vitrealis from my Skelton garden trap last night. The 4th individual here so far this year of this seemingly increasing migrant moth @BC_Yorkshire @savebutterflies @BritishMoths @teesbirds1 @nybirdnews @teeswildlife @MigrantMothUK

Figure of Eight - A moth that just about hangs on locally with an annual record in the Otley area most years. After a gap of 5 years it was my turn. #VC64 #Otley @WildaboutOtley @BradfordNature @BritishMoths
