It’s become too expensive for working families to own a home. Meanwhile, Missouri Republicans have a bill to add sales tax to home sales, which would make this problem even worse.

Another MASSIVE error in the GOP’s plan to raise sales taxes. State law requires ballot summaries to be 50 words or less. The summary Patterson wrote for his plan to raise sales taxes on everything (including gas) is 76 words. He tried to bury the truth at the bottom.

“It raises the question whether the current governor’s loyalty is to Missouri taxpayers and citizens or to this elite lobbyist who helped him in the past and presumably will in the future.” … a spokeswoman for Kehoe, did not respond to requests for comment.

Missouri Republicans have filed legislation that would allow politicians to RAISE THE GAS TAX to offset the tax breaks they’re giving to their millionaire campaign donors. Tell Missouri Republicans: NO NEW TAXES!

A $265 MILLION “mistake” … Last week, Senate Democrats took to the floor to make it clear: when the Legislature moves too quick, mistakes get made, and Missourians pay the price. After the Governor revealed his budget plan quicker than usual, this came out today:

Republicans want to match Missouri’s tax code to Tennessee’s. This would mean A LOT of tax increases. Including an almost 4x increase on the Grocery Tax. This would drive prices through the roof for Missouri families.

With today’s speech, the Governor has surrendered all responsibility for tax policy to the Legislature. In his speech, he said that GOP Rep. Welp. There it is. Republicans are planning to raise & expand Missouri’s sales tax. If this happens, life will get even more expensive for Missouri families. This is from the Governor’s state of the state speech:

In a new interview with @Missourinet , Missouri’s Republican Auditor points out that the Republican plan to raise sales taxes may not work, and that Missouri already has incredibly high sale tax rates across the state:

Why is he doing this to a “red” state? Why doesn’t he care about Missouri? Why aren’t our leaders strong enough to stand up to him?

Today is the first day of the 2026 Legislative Session. Senate Democrats are focused on affordability & lowering costs for Missouri families. There’s a lot we would like to see in the Governor’s State of State next week, but top of our list is: NO NEW TAXES & NO TAX INCREASES.
