Cubs pitching prospect Brandon Birdsell successfully underwent Tommy John surgery. Birdsell is hopeful to be back at the end of the 2026 season and possibly play in the Arizona Fall League.

The @IowaCubs play their first game following the all-star break on @WatchMarquee tonight at 7:00 p.m. Adding more intrigue to the contest is the return of pitcher Brandon Birdsell. Last year's Cubs MiLB Pitcher of the Year will start on the mound against Columbus.

The Cubs are gonna add some rotation depth right around the trade deadline, with Brandon Birdsell bumping back up to Triple-A, likely next week. Now fully healthy, he’ll be ramped up north of 80 pitches during his starts in Iowa.
