Massie: When did bipartisanship become a dirty word? By the way, I’m not even sure I’m bipartisan. “Bi” means you like both. I might be transpartisan because I can’t identify with either some days. That’s the good thing about the polls being closed—they can’t run an ad where I claim to be trans.

That Trump is vastly more corrupt than previous admins is not in question. The real question is what comes after him--a return to something approaching normalcy or a wholesale slide into kleptocracy?

“• Scale and intent: The Trump fund (~$1.8B) is larger than Keepseagle’s core but in the same ballpark as broader Obama-era farmer settlements or the Iran payment. Obama’s were framed as redressing historical discrimination claims WITH COURT/ADMINISTRATIVE.BACKING. The new one is more explicitly political (“anti-weaponization” for recent alleged targeting) and tied to dropping a high-profile presidential lawsuit.”

So let me get this straight: Donald Trump sues his own IRS, and before a judge even sees the case, Trump’s lawyers and Trump’s IRS lawyers strike a deal creating a $1.776 billion taxpayer-funded settlement fund that Trump himself will oversee—deciding who deserves compensation for supposedly being “weaponized” by the justice system. The agreement also bars the IRS from ever investigating Trump, his businesses, or his family again. Then they tell the court the case was settled before it was even filed, so the judge has no jurisdiction. Corruption on a scale "we’ve never seen before!" 4-D level corruption.

@JillPhys1905 Even if that were true, does that make it OK then? Didn’t your parents teach you that two wrongs don’t make a right?

"Judge Williams had been considering dismissing Mr. Trump’s I.R.S. suit on her own because he effectively controls both his personal lawyers bringing the complaint and the government lawyers who are supposed to respond to it. She had ordered the Justice Department, which has yet to make an appearance or filing in the case, and Mr. Trump’s lawyers to brief her by Wednesday to explain whether they were actually in opposition — or were colluding to achieve a mutually agreeable outcome. In their filing on Monday, Mr. Trump’s lawyers said their dismissal meant that 'no judicial analysis is appropriate' for the suit." nytimes.com/2026/05/18/us/…
